I came across a news article on an Australian site "The Courier Mail" entitled "Sounds like way of the future (http://www.news.com.au - if you want to read the full article) written by someone called John O'Brien.

The article was basically saying how iPods have a limited life because of the new multi-use phones, and how Apple has really missed the boat on this.

However, some arguments were put forward as to why single use devices will always have their place - and I quote:-
It is these markets that Ahonen believes will sustain dedicated devices as a niche industry. "Professional and serious amateur use will probably indefinitely find specialised single-use devices to be superior for their uses than a converged device," he says. "A DJ won't show up with a Nokia, he'll only dare to appear with an iPod. Looks like laptops, PCs, the Cortex, D Squared, & Denon haven't made it out to Australia then (or, more likely, the person who gave the quote knows nothing about DJing!!!) :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg:

I went to a party once the 'DJ' turned up set up equipment, turned all lights on plugged in ipod and walked away came back 4 hours later and packed up. How much did this cost the person for the night £140.
When I turned up I took one look burst out laughing nearly choked on my drink. Then waited for 'DJ' to turn up before demanding a refund for my friend. Friend took him to court for false advertising got all money back guy got shut down by trading standards andgot a £1000 fine as well as costs.

Moral of story, dont take ipods to disco's lol.

Well, it would depend how he advertised, but I could imagine someone getting away with that actually! Although, I would never leave my setup unattended! :omg:
