Been thinking about getting some RCF310a's and running with a small sub rather than use the mackie SRM450's and thought It'd be interesting to see what the wieght difference actually LOOKS like ...

I use the 310 passives and an LD 12 inch sub (using 150 watt sattelite outs) for all of my gigs.
Very light, compact and versatile.
The Mackie mk2 are lighter I gather. I used the ones once and they are heavy.

I have the original Mackies - 23kg each ...the V2's are 18kg.
Can't really fault them though, good enough sound quality & never let me down! All I hear is mixed opinions on the V2's.
12.4kg for some RCF's will be perfect... wanted to see how much lighter they would feel and I reckon I'll easily be able to pick up one in each hand and lift them over any obstacles around corners and walk for miles without cracking out a trolley.

The 310's are lovely speakers and I can confirm an easy carry (though only having one top handle can be a bit of a pain getting them on/off stands). I take it you're using subs? As good as the are they're still only 10" compared to the Mackie's 12" so you'd be very limited which functions the 310's could do on their own.
If you've got the funds you should check out the RCF HD10a and 12a speakers - they're in a different class again.

One of the DJ's I use that covers the odd job for me has the Mackie version 1's and they are a lot heavier than my version 2's.
They've had them for over 7 years now and have not had any problems with them at all.
I bought my Mackies a while before I purchased my RCF bins and together they sound pretty awesome but saying that, after going to the RCF open day last year and hearing the RCF tops matched with the bins, if I hadn't of bought the Mackies then I'd have opted for the RCF's as they seemed like the perfect match.
I'm not complaining about the Mackies at all because I really liked them. It was just down to timing and now funds really.

The HD10a's do look quite a speaker however tempting it is to splash out on top speakers I just get the feeling I won't see the investment returned any time soon.
And yes I've got some small subs for the smaller gigs.

I forgot to give this it's proper credit - :5star:

I've recently purchased a RCF 705as ... been waiting for a month now to give them a proper test as oddly enough all I've been getting this month is small venues and kids parties! I was thinking of holding onto the mackies and keep them as a backup / use them when I need as much sound as I can get. The only issue I've ever had with them is that occasionally I turn them on and they start distorting massively at low volumes ... it's very much a case of turn them off and give them 5 mins to warm up (only happens if they are freezing cold).
