New Car

Well, my 2001 Citroen Xsara Picasso is on it's last legs, 125k and due for an MOT beginning of May. It will need at least tho following:
New wheel bearing
Welding or new sill
Starter Motor.

As this will cost me well over the value of the car I've decided to take the plunge and scrap it and get new car. Going to look at a Honda Civic on Saturday. 2.2 Diesel, 2007 model, 34k, 12 months MOT, 2 months tax, 4 new tyres, new brake pads on front and full service history. The low mileage is the big factor in this car as I do at least 300 mile per week so will soon rack up some miles. Cost is just shy of £8,000 but going to try and knock him down to £7,500. It's the 5 door version and the back seats fold completely flat so should still get all my disco gear in it.

Anyway, here's a piccy, just hope it drives as well as it looks. Have wanted a Civic for a long time....

[edit] The car tax price was a nice surprise too, because it's a diesel it's just £120 for 12 months (costing me almost that for 6 months on my Picasso :eek:)

A few months ago I downsized to a more compact (but still as powerful) system. I can't see a problem and as I'm getting on a bit, thought it would be nice for a bit of luxury lol

Yeah, I heard a lot of people miss them when they get rid, I think they're a lovely car and bloody quick too apparently. Was your's the 2.2 Diesel Type S?
I need 5 doors really so they type S wasn't an option, besides, more expensive tyres and harder suspension doesn't 'float my boat' anymore lol. No difference in performance apart from the Type S will probably handle corners better due to harder suspension...

Yes, 2.2 Diesel. It could fairly move when it needed to.

Fantastic weekend - picked my car up on Saturday (the one pictured) from Sheffield. It's absolutely stunning, not a mark on it and interior is like a brand new car (even got that 'new car' smell - lovely). It drives like a brand new car and gave it a good run on the way back and was getting 50 MPG (even in the cold weather). Sadly it's not as clean as it was in the showroom after the drive back in wet and windy weather conditions but if we get a nice Easter weekend - I'll be giving it a wash and polish lol

Oh, also gave it a 'dry run' getting my disco equipment in it - no problem at all - once the seats are down the boot is huge.

"don't think for one minute that you are putting your stuff in the back of mine" (her type S, that is)

I'll stick with the van then.

Still, nice motor. You'll need a degree to work that multi display in the middle of the dash.

PS Have you checked if there is a spare tyre in the back because those supplied pumps / puncture repairs are absolute rubbish

No spare wheel but going to get a space saver wheel (probably off eBay, seem to go for around £50-£60). There's room in the false floor in the boot for it. I think those pump kits are called 'Honda TRK' (Tyre Repair Kit) which it does have, but I'd rather not use it. There's also an electric/cigarette lighter trye pump in the same boot panel - not sure if that's standard but a nice touch.

I find the multi display is easy to use - mainly have it on remaining miles or average MPG.
