I am stuck into why posts are requiring moderation, i made a post last night that required moderation and still not showing, today i made a post it was fine, no moderation posted straight away, then another post this afternoon required moderation and again is not showing.

what is the point of this, if no one is about to moderate and allow the posts to show?

thanks :beer1:

New members post moderation is removed automatically after 10 posts. All posts are moderated in the For Sale section though, irregardless of how many posts.

The point of the new member moderation is to combat the spam problems we've had in the past. Occasionally there may be delays in posts being approved if a moderator isn't online at the time. All our moderators give there time here freely, as well as running business and dealing with daily life. So delays are inevitable at times. We kindly ask for our members patience and understanding during these times.

For new members the first 10 posts are moderated to make sure they're not spamming etc.

Moderators are volunteers and also have lives outside of the forum so it does depend on when they're on the forum as to how quickly a post will be approved, sometimes there will be a delay but I can assure we don't ignore them. I can't see any outstanding posts of yours waiting to be approved? Can you advise what they were about please.

we now know there are at least two moderators online now :)

All approved and sorted now. I don't understand why some were moderated and later ones weren't. Especially since a post made by Darren was also moderated in the same thread. Curious. I have an inkling why that happened, but I have regularly been baffled by this issue. I shall seek clarification on this matter.

Including one confused old git who types slowly.

Thanks guys..

I thought it was because of spam, i used to run several forums a few years ago and controlling spam is a nightmare.

I just was more concerned why some were and some were not..

cheers

Being a mod isn’t a full-time job so we’re often away from the forum, posts needing approval are actioned as soon as they are noticed. Leaving messages like that doesn’t actually speed up the process.

He only has to leave two more messages like that and he won't have any reason to complain as they won't need moderating. ;)

And I don't think posts count until they've been approved anyway!

They don't, & posts that are just there to raise somebody's post count usually get spotted fairly soon. The offenders usually end up in the Sin Bin, banned, or their post count starts going in reverse.

To be fair I remember when I was new and I was quite eager to get up to 10 posts. If I'm to be be quite honest I originally only joined the forum to get a back link to my website. I used to browse it and gather info but had no real reason to join. Having been banned from forums before when I was younger I knew better than to rush. But I can understand if that's your sole purpose you might be impatient!

As it happened I really enjoyed it and had I known how useful it would be I would have joined regardless.

Note to mods: Please don't delete my back links, I've worked so long and hard for them. I know I have sinned please forgive me!:bowdown::bowdown:

I only joined for the banter...no idea how I ended up with a set of keys to the place. :zip:

Being a complete and utter creep.....I joined for the plethora of advice and knowledge I could gain from such a worthy resource of information (I kid you not....after 18 years out....I got more info on getting back into this trade from here than anywhere else).

But...I also value the linkjuice so please be kind to an old timer ;)

We're all working DJs here so it's move sites are not really our specialist area. May I suggest you use one of the many internet search engines to help you find what you're looking for?
