disco agency

Hi all, have recently joind an agency called the danco dj agency but havnt yet paid their "subscription" so im not "visible" on there roster and so far got no work from them. Has anyone else joined them and paying the subscription getting loads of work? im only asking because i dont want to pay the subscription if i get sod all work from them. :)

I have been with 4 agencies but never paid a subscription. They found me work and deducted their commission before paying me. I would never pay to be on an agencies books.
I am not with any agencies anymore.

I was or still am with a few but so far have had nothing so these guys 'invited' me to join there roster. Ive always worked on a commision basis with the other agencies so find this strange. was just seeing if anyone else is with them before i decide wheather i pay any fee or not as times are bad and i have little or no work on.

After having a quick look at the site I suspect once you're listed it relies on clients contacting you themselves rather than the agency actively recommending you (so you're just paying to be visible on their site).

How much is their fee?

I don't think this is the answer to getting you lots of work though - perhaps the fee could be spent better elsewhere? How are you advertising at the moment?

Have you looked at Need A Disco - I'll put my neck out and say you'll get more leads through them than most other sites, but you'll also be competing with more DJ's for each job.

There fee is something like £100 odd pound a year to be on there website...when jobs become available you have to send in your details to the client with your hourly rate,only reason I know is I looked into it,but I think I'll pass!!

OOps I've done it again. Nowt to do with Britney. Just seen Vectis here and thought Oh Yes, needadisco is an agency and I am a member. Had 5 enquiries today. One I am already booked and the other 4 are much too far away for me to be within their budget.

If you'd be interested I have a small agency and am from Poole. Can't promise anything as already have enough DJs to be honest but might be able to give you the odd gig.
