View Full Version : New Custom Mirror Ball Pillars

last month had these made, after making a few alterations to make sure they are easy to set up finally my latest wacky idea has been fully finished!

Poles are stainless steel.
Nice slow motor for the mirror ball.
more stable than speaker tripods despite small footprint (heavy lump of steel).
Cost just over £400 for the pair with mirror ball, motor and cables etc.

Planning to uplight the mirror ball and have a pinspot on the top pointing to the opposite mirror ball, will probably need to experiment a bit to find the best look.

Hoping that once I get some good pictures of these I'll be able to make a reasonable bit of money as an add-on.

Nice idea, they look great too. Looking forward to seeing some pix/video of them in action.

Would have to see them in action but not sure that is the best way. With different venues having various ceiling heights I think however you mount the mirror ball needs to be adjustable IMO.

I'd of been tempted to move two moving heads on the pillars and have them pointing to a central mirror ball personally...

I'd be tempted to stick moving heads on top of the podiums instead of Pinspots, then you'd get two effects in one (assuming that ceiling height allows!)

I doubt the height will be an issue, they are only 2m.
Not a bad idea with the centre mirror ball, not sure I could do it personally as I use T-bars ... I could see it looking good with overhead rig though.

If you have enough space behind then you put the t bar 90 degrees to how you would normally have it so it hangs over. Naturally you have to weight it correctly so its stable but its how I do it. Doesn't happen often as mirror balls are still a Marmite effect and you need space behind the booth and height clearance as well.

ahhh, I think I've seen somebody do that before - worth a play around!
