Further to a previous post, an experiment to try and determine if a photo of yourself may affect the number of meetings with clients you do.

Sorry, have NOT made it multiple choice as stated. Decided that would be better but forgot to change header before posting.

Be interesting what conclusions you come to once you've collated the results.

I have a photo and have only had 3 meetings with clients in over 500 bookings.
So I think you have missed an option. Why do meeting?... just take booking. Do they need to meet you?

I agree with Lee, most people seem to pass on the option of a meeting. Although, I'm sure they do appreciate that the offer is there.
I have to say, I'm very confident that the answer is no. A photo is way down the list of factors influencing a booking.

Another angle is whether the meeting is before or after the booking is confirmed - so is it a sales meeting or a planning meeting?

Cant wait for you to move to bournemouth - easy competition if you don't ever meet your client :p
I wont do a wedding now without one (on Skype if they are not local). One before booking and 1-2 after.
Just come back from two 1 hour meetings and they were really fun. Nice to chat to new people and on the day they will say "Hi toby how are you, We had a wonderful day, thanks for your tips about the venue logistics etc. etc." rather than "oh you must be the DJ we want first dance at 8pm".
Makes a massive difference to me to know a couple well before their wedding.
Logistics can be done on email, but getting to know someone face to face really helps.
Depends what market your in I suppose.
People do buy people unless they are shopping on price. the videos help.
I would not want a muppet at my wedding so would never blind book a supplier even if they are recommended.
just me though ;)

Why not? We both saw a photo of Toby on a website before we met him ;)

I'm the same as you. I have a photo and hardly ever do a meeting unless they ask for one. I never suggest it.
I am wondering if djs without a photo of themselves end up doing meetings simply because the client has no idea what they look like so want a meeting just to "see before they buy"?

You'd need to survey the customers and establish how many actually noticed the picture (or lack of one) for that to be answered.
This is going to be like the 'showing your prices' debate - nothing conclusive but lots of opinions.

Totally agree. It's hardly an "experiment" as everyone is different and has differing views so you don't have solid base with which to make your comparisons.
