I'm from a farming background and very much a meat-eater but I find this 'tradition' very cruel. I was brought to spanish bullfight as a kid also and was horrified by the whole experience.

At the end of the day you could pick apart any culture and find distasteful things in it.

Distasteful is far too lenient a description. I'm with Ian on this one. I find it an extremely cruel tradition.

It's fair to say there is a lot worse going on in abattoirs and hen batteries which provide us with our conveniently packaged meat. It's just a bit easier to pretend that it doesn't happen...

Unless you're a died in the wool vegan I think it's a bit hard to judge on this one especially given that these bulls are treated like royalty up until the fights compared to how the majority of the meat we consumers eat is created.

I certainly wasn't doing it because I'm some animal hating maniac and as I said, there's plenty that all cultures, ours included, gets up to that would turn the stomach of others.

I wasn't judging you, but I was stating an opinion. When you post a picture like the one above you're going to get people posting their opinions that may differ from our own. Personally, I'd never attend something like that. The fact that you stated the bulls are treated well before being tormented by baying crowds doesn't make the act any less abhorrent.
