You are cordially invited to:
MARKFIELD BEAM ENGINE MUSEUM
Markfield Road
South Tottenham
London N15 4RB
If anyone is at a loose end on Sunday & fancies doing something a bit different in aid of a good cause, I'm DJing at the above. Promises to be a fun day out. Bring a Picnic if you wish, there's plenty of room. Bring the kids (under 18s go free)
Loads going on, live music, silly games / races, stalls, Steampunk Morris Dancing, bar, on site cafe etc... Full details on the website: http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/43798156/markfield_steampunk_convivial.html
Be warned, my bit won't be your usual mobile disco (apart from the fact that it won't involve any dancing as it's primeraly for background music). I'll be playing Steampunk & Steampunk friendly artists, Victorian & Edwardian Music Hall songs, & other appropriate music (among other things)
From the Time Out feature on it in this week's issue (no, none of them are me) & the site map:

Splendid!
If I get any good photos, I'll post them after the event

Looks interesting Steve. Mind you, certain things baffle me. Why were those Ladies in their bloomers attacking each other with baguettes?
And I don't think everyone was taking it seriously, I'm sure some were taking the pith. :coat:

Is this why people are dressing like Victorians all over the place?
I was at a metal gig on Friday and one bloke had a full on moustache, tweed suit and a pocket watch?
Monocles will be back in soon - god knows why LOL. Nostalgia from a previous life I suppose?
Very bizarre. I would never in a million years think that a ridiculous moustache would ever bee cool again.
I might go the other way and try a future sailor approach just to be different.

The website doesn't look promising. What are the issues they've got, is a licencing thing or have finances gone belly up?
Corabar Steve
03-08-2014, 12:28 PM
Third party sponsor (the events company) pulled out as costs compared to funds available didn't really compute & no more funds were forthcoming.
As a cost cutting exercise one stage was dropped, & somebody from one of the bands leaked it on their FB page (before an official statement could be made, (legal goings on prevented mention of the eventc company pulling out at this point)) but made it look like a full event cancellation.
This had a cascade effect as no statement was forthcoming from the promoters, people started panicking & pulling out.
The festival was officially cancelled on Friday. 2 weeks to the hour until it was due to start.
The stage manager of the Steampunk Stage is in talks with venues to keep our part of the event going (the headliners have already been paid) as Ctrl-Del-Alt-Fest & I should know more tomorrow.

Then on the 19th & 20th of next month there's another legendary Surrey Steampunk Convivial. (Details the same as the last few mentioned in this thread)
