Apologies for resurrecting this perennial favourite, but I have searched, and many of the links are out of date. I used to know which Screwfix brand to buy, but they've changed suppliers by the looks of it. The last roll I bought from them was good. Too good! Once taped down, things were staying down, even when you wanted them up!! Another range from them was the exact opposite. :daft:
I've bought from CPC before, and had some absolute rubbish. I may yet try a different product/catalogue number and see ho it goes, as I can get free delivery there. Someone linked to some excellent stuff from Blue Aran, but postage killed that one.
Suggestions anyone, before I risk a fiver at Screwfix, CPC, or Ebay? Ta.

Many thanks for that Shaun. Appreciated. Only one tiny tiny flaw in that cunning plan though. Since I don't live in or near near one of the vast conurbations, I'm bereft of local access to the supermarket you recommend Minimum thirty miles. . Thanks anyway. :)

i used to use the pro power stuff from cpc, always used to be in a dumpy bin at the trade counter circa £1.50 a roll so i used to stock up on the occasions of visiting the trade counter.
looking at the site it would appear to be discontinued, and any similar product seems to be nearly a fiver a pop, i am now in the same boat as you as i am running out…..the boy and his band are not helping borrowing and never returning odd rolls.
probably just take a punt on ebay or maybe stick some on the next trade order whichever comes first.

Correct. Your link in a previous thread was a sale one, the stuff is now indeed a fiver. Here (http://cpc.farnell.com/pro-power/a-wpt50/waterproof-cloth-gaffer-tape-black/dp/CB00015). I got some other tape from them once, and it was awful.
Looking like Ebay and/or Screwfix. Thanks.

If you want decent tape then the lemarc matt magtape is £5.75 a roll from blue Aran.
Excellent stuff. It amazes me when I go to gigs at the crap tape people use. never found better than the above. :)
nice and matt so not so noticable or sticky when laid. Well easy to tear and no residues or paint removed on walls.
I bought a whole box at £110 which saved me some cash.

Indeed it is Toby. The stuff you linked to earlier. The stuff that I said was spoiled by the postage. ( I don't intend to buy a box of 24, unless I can find someone close who wants 22 rolls. )
It's also showing as out of stock at Blue Aran, as well Toby. Thanks anyway.
Anyhow, I've thrown caution to the wind, and purchased this. (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181154484138?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649)
I'll let you know whether it's good or bad.

Some of the tape on ebay is not very good quality at all. I have bought 2 cartons in the last 10 or so years and the reels in the last one have become very tacky on the edges and it doesn't tear very well with age. Mind you I did go for a fairly cheap one which worked out at just under £2 per reel so my own fault.

You can get it on Ebay and I am sure you can order a few and have the same postage perhaps? :)

Blimey Toby, with every link you give, it gets dearer and dearer!!!!!!!!!:eek:
Have you taken leave of your senses?
I tend not to use a 50m roll very quickly, so while I agree bulk orders make sense, it's money stood idle. Thanks anyway, it's appreciated.

There is a lot of tape on that roll and it last for months so its good value for money.
It comes off easy, looks nice and keeps my cables away from a PLI claim ;)
hope you don't get an sticky crap on your cables with the one you bought - thats my pet hate. :)
That and not being able to tear it as its plasticy rather than material (if that makes sense) - Probably good though.

For holding cables to spealer and lighting stands, I use reusable cable ties from B&Q. If I need to gaffa stuff down, I get gaffa tape form B&Q too. They do their own brand, which doesn't stick brilliantly, so is great for one night and an easy lift at the end. For more serious use, say taping cables in public areas, I use the heavy duty stuff which lifts carpets at the end of the night.
Only because B&Q is virtually next door to me at work (and my step son-in-law works for them).

Plus 1 for Asda. It doesn't leave any sticky residue and doesn't pull the pile carpet out:D:D

When I first saw this thread and read the title I thought it was some sort of secret code for something else ;)
