Hi all
I have a Bose L1 model 2 system with a Bose tonematch unit. I generally use Traktor Pro for any DJ related work and all is good... or so I thought. I also have Virtual DJ Pro on my Macbook which I have never really used.
Anyway, last night I thought i'd fire up VDJ and try to get to grips with the way it works, this was in our conservatory at home. The system is set up as Macbook Pro / USB lead in to Traktor S4 mixer / Sound output from back of Traktor mixer (using the built in Traktor sound card) into Bose Tonematch and then on to the L1 Mod 2.
On listening to the sound I noticed a slight jump in tonal quality when using VDJ, at first I figured it may have been a 'brightness' setting somewhere in VDJ. But as far as I can tell everything is just running 'Flat'. I fired up Traktor Pro and sure enough there is a definite sound difference between the two software packages. This is despite double checking everything was set to a flat output. I didn't change any settings on the mixer/Tonematch/speakers, so the sound difference is only down to the software and nothing else.
Do the programs process the sound differently somehow? Could there be any settings that i've missed?
Having listened and compared the 'sound' of the two software packages I have to say that I think I slightly prefer the VDJ sound. This is very strange and I hope someone may be able to shed some light on this rather strange phenomenon.
