What's the latest time you have introduced the first dance at a wedding?
For me it was 9.30pm last night. Evening reception was suppose to start at around 7.30ish,butthere was only 18 people there at this time. I spoke to the b&g and they told me that they were expecting around 100 guests,so we both agreed to wait until nearer 8pm.yes 8pm came only around 25 guests,8.30pm about 30.The b&g still wanted to wait hopeing that more guests would arrive, so I respected there wishes. Well at 9.30 there was only around 35 guests there so we agreed just to get on with it.
That is the latest I have ever introduced a first dance
What about you?

Funny you should bring this up now as Steve had a great one last week, but I'll let him come and tell you about it next time he's on-line rather than stealing his thunder!

I introduced one at about 9 a few weeks ago, and to be honest, it (and the disco to follow) seemed more like a side show! Very bizarre. I think it was just the fantastic weather, when it was still getting dark around 10.30pm... and this particular venue had stunning grounds but not so stunning interior decor (IMO).

Blimey, my PC must be capable of time travel then, cos I'm sure I read his account of it last week.:D:D
10.15pm for me, but it was a 1am finish in that case.
In some cases it's no bad thing as you can continue the dancing right the way through the evening without a need for people going off the the buffet, feeling full, not dancing for 30-60 minutes sometimes.

10.45pm for me. B & G didn't get married till after 4pm, and food didn't get served till 8pm. Finish time was midnight, so it was the shortest wedding ive done.

I once didn't get to do the first dance due to the groom going home very drunk and worse for wear at....
Half past 7 - before most of the guests had even started to arrive!!!!

Ouch I bet that is a long and happy marriage.
Not a first dance but I've gone on way after 11 on an occassion or 2.
One was a 8-12 pub gig and on account of the football running on I didn't start until 11ish. I got to sit listening to floyd with my earphones on watching the game :)
Another one was a charity fundraiser where the organiser was pretty drunk at the start, proceeded to get smashed and let the whole "organiser" roll go waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay by the wayside. I want on after Midnight for a 1am finish.

this reminds me of a charity race night I did years ago. The race night part of the event took so long that I didn't start till 11.40pm, and finished at midnight.
