Is this cable ok for connecting my wireless mic to a powered speaker

Further information: its an AKG SR40 mic and QTX QRC 12a speaker. The combi 6.3mm/xlr input of the QTX is marked as Ch1 input BAL and according to the SR40 manual if I were connecting 6.3mm jack out to xlr in it would have to be a balanced cable but not sure if this is or not?

Does your mic have a jack output then? Normally they use XLR for a balanced out, and jack for unbalanced. If it's XLR at the mic end, then simply use XLR-XLR, surely?

Fair enough. Unless the manual for the mic states that it's balanced, I'd assume it's not. That's the rule of thumb. If that's correct, a lead of the type you posted is fine. If it is in fact a balanced jack output, then the one I linked to should be correct.

thanks Excalibur. The manual states if going jack to xlr it has to be balanced but if going jack to jack then unblanced is ok.

1. Use a balanced cable with an XLR connector and 1/4" TRS jack plug (available from
electronics or hi-fi stores).
2. Connect the AUDIO OUT jack on the receiver rear panel to the desired balanced (XLR)
microphone input on the mixer or amplifier.
3. Turn the VOLUME control on the receiver all the way CCW to set the receiver output to
mic level.

1. Use a standard 1/4" jack cable to connect the AUDIO OUT jack on the receiver rear panel
to an unbalanced 1/4" line input jack on the mixer or amplifier.

What they're saying is that their output is balanced, so if running into a balanced connector such as an XLR, then you need a TRS ( Tip, Ring, Sleeve. The one with three segments. ) plug at the mic end.
However, if you're running into an unbalanced jack socket at the mixer end, you have to use unbalanced jack plugs ( TS , two segments ) at each end.

Anyway, short answer is, the type of cable I showed is the one you want.

thanks again, I am going to pick one of the balanced ones up today. BTW would the output be affected by using something else like an unbalanced jack to jack?
Is the longer distances that can be covered the only advantage of balanced over unbalanced?
