Not so magic Magician.

At tonight's Wedding there was a magician, he spent 2 hours going around the guests doing his magic thing. When he'd done his time he approached the groom for payment. Only to be told that they hadn't booked him and they'd assumed that he was a Wedding present from one of their guests!

It turns out he should have been in the Hall. We were in the marquee! He goes over to the Hall now some 3 hours later than planned does another show to the right couple for free as he was late!

So he's ended up doing 2 shows and being massively out of pocket as he didn't get paid for either of them. Failing to plan is planning to fail. Atleast knowing the Bride & Grooms names would have helped as there were clear signs pointing to different parts of the venue!!

similar thing happened to me as a guest at a wedding many years ago
turned up at a wedding as an evening guest and didnt really know the bride and groom that well.
After about half an hour sitting at a table drinking with guests we didnt know, my wife caught sight of the bride and realised that we were at someone elses wedding!
turns out we were in the wedding hall but supposed to be in the marquee in the grounds.
still the drink was free as it was a free bar so at least something came out of it :)

To be fair to guy, doing it all over again would have taken even more time in resetting his tricks. So to do it for free again I think is a fantastic gesture. It was obviously a genuine error and not as if he'd just turned up late because he'd been in the pub all day!

But, like you say, preparation is everything and that includes knowing where you're going to and who you are working for!!
