After a 6 month break I'm back gigging, I've decided to swap pa.
I'm selling my passive rig and going back to active.
Considering just getting a pair of 15's and forgetting the sub, I'm only going to be doing small/medium venues so the right choice in make model is needed.
I'm aiming to get about £2,000 from the sale of my passive rig so that's the budget all though I don't have to spend all of it lol.
I will be keeping a pair of rcf 310's so another idea is just buying a powered sub and using as a 2.1 system.
I have been looking at the yamaha 15's they seem pretty good or maybe the qsc k12's.
Anything else I should look out for ?

Cheers

Phil

I have been using the Yamaha DXR 15 for about a year and to me they are excellent, they sound good and have plenty of volume. For £2000 you can get a pair with a DXS 15 sub and still have change. They also come with a 7 year guarantee.

...and the Yamaha DSR 115's are also quite something as well although a little heavier than the DXR's. I'd heartily recommend either the DSR 115's or the DXR 15's.

If you are not doing any big places you really won't gain much with the Yamaha's over just adding a sub to your RCF's. EV do some very lightweight subs with impressive performance.

Thankyou for the replies.

?
Thanks

Thinking further if I am going to swap it has to be for just a pair of tops with no sub, I think I need a listen to a pair of these dsr 15's.

Currently I'm using logic system passive rig. In my most regular venue I take a single 500 watt 15 bin and a pair of 350watt tops driven on a dynachord powered desk that runs at 700 watts a side into 4ohms.

I keep the second bin and a chevin a3000 power amp and dbx drive rack at home and only use in very big venues.

Before I sell the logics and amp off I have to be sure that the replacements will do the job in their place
