Suggestions for a good (reasonably priced) Dancefloor light effect

At a recent gig, I was restricted by the electrical outputs, and layout of the room. Without running too many trip hazards I was forced to congregate most of the lighting to one end of the room. Although the venue had some of their own lighting, it hadn't been used in years, and when the owner attempted to turn it on, it tripped all the power, leaving us reluctant to even try it again! So we left it off. It left the centre of the dance floor a little dark, as my rig, although casting much effects, wasn't quite powerful enough to create enough light to light it up. Can anyone recommend an addition, possibly a stand alone lighting effect, that can produce a good centre floor dance light?

LED Panels perhaps?

At the moment, from reading on here and from personal experience these last few weeks, the trend appears to be moving away from moving lights, gobos, dots and the like, in favour of colour washes. Personally, I like to see a bit of lights in action on the dancefloor but I did see a pure colour-wash setup just over a week ago (well, there was also a Martin barrel effect to come to think of it!) and it did look really impressive.

Hmmmmmmmm. Now who do we know who advocates a powerbar and one or two EFX 500s? :whistle: I've got to say that I'm confident that with that setup,I could light just about any venue. I don't use it every time, but it's nice to have that option. I tend to use it when I want to impress, have a bit more time, and good access.
