Present consensus leans towards Starcloths. Failing that, a plain cloth ( my preference ). Black paint is of course an option ( which you could take in conjunction with either of the first two options. White or coloured is an option also. ) Designs of some sort, if you know someone artistically inclined.

Once upon a time, ropelights would have been suggested, and lightboxes. Nowadays, ropelights are totally out of favour, and the lightbox has been replaced by screens with some sort of lighting effect behind.

There are many options, and folk may suggest more.

I would get some more wood to put on the top to surround the decks. It will make them safer and hide all the cables etc

That looks great. I assume its for static use as it also looks very heavy!

Blue Aran do some great paint for those units. I painted my dog den with it and its awesome!!
drys in about 10 mins.

That with some lights and cables tidied up would look really cool.
I would run the cables through the poles personally so you just have to plug it in.
Failing that on the other side of the poles facing the DJ.

Plain black cloth. Ironed out, it would look great. Also, because you're concerned so much about portability, you can fasten it more stringently.

As the OP has said that its for his house...and house parties.....

Id smooth it down and gloss it white.
