I'm doing the one free gig I do every year tonight. It's an outdoor PA for the local cricket clubs firworks party. Generally attracts 1,000-1,500 people, and historically I've always generated work from it, so am happy to do it for the exposure.

However, historically, I agonise no end about the choice of music to accompany the fireworks. For the last two years, I've gone with this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swVoXHVW-jI&feature=related

This year, I've been set on this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTWKbfoikeg&ob=av3e

However, three hours before the gig (!), I'm wondering if I can get away with The Who.

Any thoughts?

Handel - Music for the Royal fireworks?

Thanks for the suggestion, Darren. I've always drifted away from typical fireworks music - stuff like Handel. I played Wagner a few years ago, which went down well.

All this doubt is down to bloody Wikipaedia, reading about John McVicar......

Looked in the top 10 lists and nothing there Mr Admin

Just used the search function and "Fireworks" returned 7 pages of, mainly, irrelevant posts to plough through, but the top one is now a "Top 10(ish) Fireworks/ Bonfire Parties" genius!

Whoa, Neddy! Steve hasn't yet been promoted to the inner sanctum yet. ( Unless I've missed something ) He's actually a Moderator. ( I nearly said " merely ", but that would have been not only impolite and factually questionable, but decidedly dangerous )

Looked in the top 10 lists and nothing there Mr AdminI've not been an admin for at least 2 years.

Just because it isn't there doesn't mean the subject hasn't been covered before. The Top 10 lists were originally started for genre help. Perhaps that's why there wasn't one. as it's not actually a genre.

Just used the search function and "Fireworks" .......
but the top one is now a "Top 10(ish) Fireworks/ Bonfire Parties" genius!
Search brings up the posts in the order they were last replied to (most recent at the top of the list), I'd be concerned that there was something wrong with the forum software if this thread didn't show up on it.
Just used the search function and "Fireworks" returned 7 pages of, mainly, irrelevant posts to plough through& yet I managed to plough through them & find (& post links to) the relevant threads in all of about 2 minutes:rolleyes:

There seem to be enough people who are happy to constructively contribute to this thread so I don't see that I have caused any harm or inconvenience Steve.

If people are going to get reprimanded for making contributions to this forum then I am not sure of the purpose.

Yes you found a thread that had some songs, but not quite what I was looking for so I see that this new thread is still relevant, if not I apologise and please feel free to remove from the forum.

No rolling eyes from me!

That's fair enough, there's no need for it's removal at all. The search facility can be an invaluable tool, but occasionally it might not provide exactly what the searcher is looking for. And sometimes it's good to get a fresh perspective on old topics as new members join up all the time.

It's all irrelevant now, I've merged all 3 threads so now there will be only one for when folks search for them.
