Hi guys,

Got a themed party next year.

It's loosely themed around Musicals.

I'm compiling a list of music from the musicals that were hits in their own right. Can you suggest any tracks.

Many thanks.

David.

I've got a great big list of musicals from...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Musicals:_A_to_L

But trying to cross reference the name of the musical with chart history is a pain, just thought some of you 'old' geezers might be able to ring off a few tracks for me. ;)

Don't forget to cheat with things like Queen, Elvis, Abba, Rod Stewart and Madness who have all had musicals made about them.
Plus:
T.Rex - I Love to Boogie from Billy Elliott
Captain Sensible - Happy Talk from South Pacific
Gerry & the Pacemakers - You'll never walk alone from Carousel
Martine McCutcheon - I dreamed a Dream from Les Mis

I don't know if this will be of help or not, but if you know anyone who buys the Sunday Express, there were 2 rather good CDs of "West End Hits" from the musicals included a couple of weeks ago.

Are you including film musicals? If so, the new Disney one, 'High School Musical' has one, maybe two decent tracks on it (i think my son has seen it about 11 times so far, and it's only been on TV a couple of weeks!).

i have just finished working on We Will Rock You the queen musical - brilliqnt - the producer of the west end show came up to see it and said the lead girl (she is 17 years old) is actually better than the girl working the west end on it the now - oh and it was an amatuer production too

Next time your on a motorway, check out the cd's in the service station shop.

I picked up a box set of 5 cd's that contain all the musicals stuff that you could ever need.

i'll try and dig out the publisher when I get home.

OK, here you go it's called funnily enough " best of the musicals" published by komax in 2006 only numbers I can find is the barcode 4897009171758.

hope that's useful but probably not!
