Gonna sort of semi retire, its not worth selling as prices not good compaired to what I paid and as most items either less than a year or max 3 years old, would take a huge hit.

They are all paid for, so dont havethat to worry about.

With still struggleing to come to terms with my eldest sons death and playing music just brings it all back and am often in tears behind the decks. Not having his help anymore to load & unload and generally help me out.

Ive become a bit of a recluse now - at bookings were I have been on my own - I didnt wanna be there, if Mrs C was with me. altho sometears was a lot happier.

This is also happening in my normal life - on my own I stay in the house or my workshop all the time, I just cant face going out on my own or come to that driving. But sometimes Mrs Cand I go for a drive n walk together which is so presious to us both.

Maybe in time my feelings will change, we will have to wait n see.

I am just gonna do the N.A.B.D Rallies that I provide disco and full stage lighting rigs for and the Farmyard and thats about it. Not gonna take any more bookings that I dont want to do or are upstairs.

In fact altho my eldest daughter has now left home, unfortuantly, I am gonna spend more time around them.

I can only offer words of comfort, and they're precious little use. It's awfully hard to hang up the headphones, but it's even harder to watch a bunch of people having fun when you don't feel like it. Do whatever feels right for you.

May I wish you all the best, and if I'm down your neck of the woods, get the kettle on and we'll have a cuppa and a chinwag.

Glad you're not giving up entirely.

Hopefully things will start to feel a bit better with time.

Is it not possible for you to take on a DJ to do the DJing for you? At least that way you can still be making some money out of your kit without selling it. You could also offer him/her your advice and experience. The kit will still be there should you feel the desire to DJ again.

Like Steve said, I'm pleased you're not packing in altogether. What happened to your son was tragic and you need time to grieve. Maybe one day you'll do a one-off show which turns out to be amazing and you'll be glad you didn't sell up, the bug will return and you'll want more and more. I've not been through what you have but I have considered calling it a day several times before but, like you said, the economics of selling your kit (ie not getting anywhere near what you paid for it!), has put me off selling it then I get a gig which turns out fantastic and everything is good again.

Anyway, as we said before, good luck! :)

I can only echo what has been said above. Hope it all works out for the best for you.

Am in tears reading this, I hope whatever you decide to do it'll be for the best for you and your family.

Your doing the right thing - these things take time to 'heal' - give it a bit of time and you'll know what to do

I read with sadness of your loss and I hope to understand the pain and suffering you are going through and I echo other comments and sentiments that it is with great courage and diginity that you have chosen to carry on with your DJ activities.

Since the loss of my mother last year I too found it hard to accept that people are enjoying themselves while I stand behind the decks. Like you I found it hard to cope with and decided to cut my bookings back by 95% because my heart just wasn't in it.

After time I have now found the courage to speak to people to discuss my feelings and to express my grief and even now I am welling up as I type, but gradually I have found that I am now picking up where I left off.

So I hope in time, like me you will feel encouraged to take up the reigns again.

It really helped me to talk to someone about my grief and to talk about my feelings and emotions about my loss.

If you ever feel the need to just chat or even to off-load please feel free to call me - my number is on my website.

I hope your not offended as I do not know your full story but I hope this list may possibly be a source of comfort to help you find a way through your pain, or it may just help others who find themselves in the same situation over the loss of a loved one.

Many thanks all for your coments

Things have moved on a bit, Out of the blue had a phone call and my bid PA was soon sold, just the speakers, amps, crossover, spare ammp and all the boxes (not the mixer desk).

and will be replaced with a pair of the DB speakers :)

My Snake I swapped for a smaller version, still able to do the jobs that i need it too :)

this means that once the welding is finished on my transit and motd n taxed it will be sold off.

The large mixer box is next to be shrunk down, as its just to big to go into my SEAT and allow me to take the rest of the kit I need.

All in all a busy day yesterday, I didnt get as much as I would have liked, but more than I thought I would get :)
