Morning all,
One of my venues have decided they no longer like things taped down and have asked that I now use the rubber cable protector things.
There's plenty on ebay etc but though I'd ask in here just incase anyone had some they no longer want.
Only need about 3-4 metres maximum.
Thanks

I need to look in to these mats, also, as I did a gig last month whereby I taped a length of cable along a newly polished stage floor. The tape left a glue residue on the stage which we couldn't get (bottle of adhesive remover is on my next shopping list!). The venue didn't say anthing but I was quite annoyed at us for seemingly ruin the lovely, shiny stage!*
*In hindsight, I'm pretty sure the cleaners would have had some solution to remove it. Maybe I shouldn't have worried so much!

Out of interest, what are these? Are they just like long rubber mats laying over the cable? If so, good idea safety-wise. Aren't they likely to get kicked out of place, or are they too heavy to be moved easily?

I bought some.... and found them to be useless. I ended up having to tape them down as they were more of a trip hazard than the cables!!
I now use a couple large door mats (office type) that I picked up in costco....

Basically they either have a split in the bottom that you insert the cable into or you need to thread them through. Possibly kicked as Lee's said but these are primarily for behind the rig cable run from the socket to decks and out the sides from booth to base of speaker stand.

No, I can't see how they're any less of a trip hazard? I know you've been asked to use them though, so what can you do...

I've got some.... but they're a lot flatter than those pictured but the same in theory. They are an absolute pig to get the cables in and takes ages.... and I was forever tripping over them. I now use a very good quality gaffa tape that doesn't leave a residue.... much quicker and safer.
Just had a though...... for cabling behind the rig, especially where I'm standing, I throw a couple of rubber car mats....brilliant!

In the theatre I work in we use door mats and car mats. Professional cable protector mats can cost lots and don't work half the time. We have them and choose not to use them. My preference is the door mats.

The key to this is Quality. There are some really crappy ones of these about, that are more plastic than rubber. I have both, and the crappy ones don't get used unless I have used all of my others.
They also come in different colours, black, grey, and brown, which are great depending on what colour floor you are using them on.
Best to go second hand as good quality new ones will be expensive. Maybe keep an eye on Ebay.

No idea of the quality, suitability or advisability of these (http://cpc.farnell.com/pro-power/plcc3-b-1m/cable-protectors-80-x-14mm-1-metre/dp/CBBR708603?Ntt=cbbr708603), but the price is attractive enough.
