Pro Mobile Conference 2014 - your thoughts?

Being pushed heavily in the magazine, of course, and I have to say:

I'm tempted: I'm very tempted. I have a real 'head vs heart vs wallet' battle going on. Hell, my kids can make do with a few daytrips to Barry Island again, instead, this summer, can't they?

Very pleased to see Howard Wing speaking: I've spoken with Howard a few times in the past and he's a great guy - refreshing that he also comes at DJing/events from a live specialism...I feel an affinity.

But ... how much advertising could that £500 buy me? How many professional showreel videos and demo recordings?

So over to you:
Are you going? If you went before would you go again and why?
If you went last year, could you quantify how much business it's brought you/how it's improved your performance & value?

I was there last year and its worth double the cost IMO. Great fun and many times more educational than BPM.

You also get to spend time with some of the best DJ's in the country (myself not included LOL) and also get to pick the brains of most the DJ player manufacturers. I had breakfast with Denon, which was interesting. This also includes 2 days of stuff with a a gala dinner and some very good entertainment. its just one or two gigs so its hardly a bank breaking exercise in relation to what you can get out of it. Just don't spend on something that you don't really need, DJ kit or otherwise. its only £9 a week to save up.

Going to the conference! Nevermind that, I considering knocking my Pro Mobile magazine subscription on the head!
I used to eagerly await each issue to look at what new equipment was out there, pick up tips or read about other people, sadly I feel these have dropped off a little. In recent issues I'm fed up reading articles in there constantly bashed on about " you're not charging enough... then you mustn't be good enough" that they seem to constantly badger on about. Thing is the people going on about it the articles arent the ones who are working flat out with bookings, they are charging for seminars on "how to make yourself better". Perhaps these articles are meant to be a bit edgy in order to promote discussion, but for me, I find them disheartening, a bit like reading the dailymail online! I don't feel the Pro mobile magazine ally with the semi pro DJ's out there! I'd much rather watch a video blog on youtube, like Brian S Redd or look at a gig video.

I thought Harry Kibs one was excellent this month and that was mainly kit based :)
Dave Reed will always post article on charging more as thats what he does.

I think my articles fall in the "how to make yourself better category" so I apologise for that and do see where you are coming from :)
I did review a Pioneer player this month if that helps ;)

I can't really comment on what it should or does not have really, I personally think its a great magazine.

LOL, have to agree. pleaasssseeeee no more. Those articles from Dave are becoming boring and verging on tedious. Time to move on now. Or Dave to learn a new subject to write about.

I know a few guys who attended the last one and they really gleaned a lot from it, so the conference certainly has it's place and purpose.....but.........Pro Mobile magazine literally refers to it in every single article, and I agree that it's getting tedious and repetitive now. Reviews for the tech are still welcome (and good), and tips for self-improvement that don't involve plugging the conference are usually very insightful. But in all honesty, I think they're running out of things to say.
