Hi All,
I'm looking at ideas for back lighting for a DJ screen.
All suggestions / images are welcome.
Many thanks
Edward.

I believe there are a few on here. Cluster lasers, short throw projectors, and the Acme Mirrage spring readily to mind.

The main problem with screens is the lack of projection range. vertical washes seem to be good.
I use a mega bar. My wide angle blue laser is also nice.
Have you thought of a short throw projector, bet that would look cool?

Not sure how a short throw projector would handle 4 panel screens? Plus the expense.
Probably more looking into the LED options?
Cheers
Edward.

The Acme Mirrage looks a good option, but I would be tempted to use that as a centre piece on my lighting rig.

One of these KAM cluster lasers will give you a 4ft x 4ft spread of patterns with the lens 18"/19" away from the screen, it's a bit centre weighted on some patterns, but OK

Sorry missed that one - great minds think alike - not seen it being used but I saw some excellent ones in plasa.
You might be able to use custom graphics.

When I first got my Equinox DJ Screens one of the first things I tried was putting a projector on the Ultimax shelf and reversing the image. It came out ok actually but was obviously only on one side of the screen. When I got another projector before Christmas I linked the 2 of them and it looked cool. I don't know much about short throw projectors but the result I had wasn't that bad. It was a lot of bother though and I usually use the shelf for the flightcase cover and lighting box.
It is handy to know that it works and I could possibly use it for photo projection if I wanted to (I tested 80s visuals the last time I tried it).
I generally use KAM RGB192 panels or Mega Bars now and either match them to the colour scheme / Uplighters (if I am supplying that) or leave them on sound to light to change different colours. I tried my rainbow laser and didn't like it. I also tried the H2o water effect lights and they looked pretty good actually.
