DJ Insurance for all my kit?

I had a look at these two sites:

May be a silly question, but do you enter the ammount that all of your kit is worth? If so, is £125 a lot of money for this type of insurance?

I'm with musicguard, but to be honest I'm thinking of changing companies altogether when it's time for renewal. There's a member on here that was waiting for a month to get replacement epuipment from them when his gear was stolen. When I pay for for insurance I'm paying for peace of mind that if the unthinkable happens I'll be on my feet relatively quickly. A month is nowhere near quick enough in my opinion.

Just out of curiosity...has anyone else had to make a claim from musicguard or djguard?. I'd be interested in hearing your stories (good or bad). Any recommendations on alternative insurance companies?. thanks.

It does depend how much you are insuring. Yes you do need to enter the total amount and generally they will ask for a breakdown.

Personally, I don't think that £125 is much to ask at all, but then I haven't any experience of making a claim. They have always been more than helpful and changed some of the terms to suit my situation.

I would say that you can get PLI cheaper or a better deal if you look around. For example, we have PLI through musicians union as £10m is cheaper than doing it with musicguard - they will also sell policies with the PLI removed if you ask - remember, the £125 will automatically include £1m PLI

there is another company out there but its premiums are so high it aint worth it Musicguard is the best as it does give you PLI & insurance for your gear Mine is £21 a month but then I have around £6000 worth of gear currently which is growing and I insure everything I could possibly think of except the music and wires

By the way, I have my CD's included on my musicguard insurance!:p

I would have insured my music as well untill they wanted a consice list of every cd I owned it ended up being mission impossible and its now under the household insurance instead
