Exciting Opportunity to Diversify

Well, after a couple of years wanting to undertake a Professional Toastmasters course, I am 'taking the plunge' and will training in London for the whole of next week. Following this, I will then shadow a couple of experienced Toastmasters, be assessed undertaking my own functions, and then undertake an exam. Only then, and 'fingers crossed' I will be admitted to this specific Guild.

I have been very lucky to work with a number of professional Toastmasters in the past, from Weddings and Dinners Dances through to Masonic Ladies Nights, and have been very impressed with them.

It's going to be a hard but enjoyable week :)

Good luck, bet that will help business. I like toastmasters and what they stand for (minus the snooty attitude from some of them) as they can really make a day, especially at a historic venue. The discipline and structure as well as story telling and organisation is a really nice touch when done properly. :)

Although having said that I think they should be re assessed every 5 or 10 years as I have not seen one yet other than a couple that I have been impressed with, but there are lots out there at all levels. One I worked with last weekend is to put it bluntly is completely terrible. I could have done better after a bad hangover ;) He was supposed to tell a story about the venue and after lots of uums and urrs (following 3 large wines) forgot what he was saying and said "well thats about it then". The cake cut was a non event and he buggered off home before first dance ;)

It's totally different to this new age all day DJ host thing IMO and hopefully something that will stay in the wedding/formal function industry.
It will give me an option in retirement :lol: I should better be good at it by then.

Well last week was particularly challenging but very rewarding. A lot of information to take in in relation to the successful working and utilisation for a Professional Toastmaster and Master of Ceremonies. However I am now a Graduate of the Professional Toastmasters Academy.

I now look forward to receiving new bookings for Wedding Receptions, Civil Ceremonies, Masonic Ladies Festivals, etc, to enable me to put my newly learnt knowledge into practice. I am currently developing a new web site but have updated my existing site to reflect the additional role of a Professional Toastmaster.

If you receive any such enquiries, I would appreciate some recommendations.

Jim,

Indeed it is. However, there are a number of Guilds whose training is somewhat shorter than this.

I am, at this stage, a Graduate which means I still need to undergo some additional training activities including observation, assessment and a final exam before I can fully apply for acceptance.
