What stand/table do you use?

OK - weird question I admit....but after 6 months back in the game now, my Ecko stand is becoming a pain in the :Censored:

I've got one of the four foot jobbies with the overhead bar at the moment. The trouble is, it seems to take me 10 mins to put together even with an electric allen key. And then I stick the Domin8r in the middle and it starts bowing. Most of the gig's I'm doing at the moment expect me to be playing tooons after only 30 minutes setup.

It currently sits behind either a spandex screen or a set of original 1980's Showtec light screens, so looks aren't that important

So....I need something new. The only requirements are:

1. It has to be about 4 feet wide
2. It must have two shelves
3. It must be able to carry a ton of lights (well, at least the Domin8r and a couple of scanners)
4. It absolutely HAS to be quick to put up....does anyone make anything with quick release t-nuts instead of allen bolts?

So gentlepersons....the floor is open to ideas...I'm all ears.

It's quick to assemble with wingnut-type tighteners on it. I've made my own aluminium shelves for it which work a treat.

But I will concede that the Ultimax stands are far more robust and will last you a lot longer without the poles getting dinted. I just wanted something cheap in a hurry and it's served me well but I will be upgrading to the Ultimax ready for the christmas season this year.

Been there, done exactly the same (except I went with a Deck Stand Booth instead of an Ultimax - but that's quite a bit more money).

Are they wing nuts on the sides to put it together with?

My current one needs an allen key and it's becoming a pain in the proverbial to keep putting up and taking down.

trilite, wind up stands, 19 inch rackmount with the sides as a table, sparkly lighting cloth.. also helps if there are 2 of you, we can get music playing in 10 minutes, lighting rigged and up in 30, just takes some time positioning all the lighting how we want it. then general tidying up. we are both rather cuddly and even our combined weight it didn't bow in the middle, god knows we tried. we deliberately stayed away from the lighter overhead stuff just for this one reason., oh and future proofing for the 4 moving heads when we get the money side sorted let alone anything else we like the look off.

Quite easy to setup.

The only wing nuts are on the truss, for the lights, and to join the two truss sections together.

There are 8 round plastic knobs to secure the cross members to the side frame, and 4 'L' shaped elbows to secure the vertical poles which support the truss.

I purchased a desk board for the top separately.

Not a great stand. If/when you get bigger moving heads, you need something a lot more weighty to prevent it wobbling. I used to own that stand, but have now gone with Duratruss tri with Goliath stands.

+1 for the Rhino if you're looking for a 4ft jobby. Easy to set up, but it didn't last me that long. Maybe a year.

not sure of the make of mine as was 2nd hand when i brought it back in 2005, similar to the Rino stand the square arms just slot into square sockets i have made 2 shelfs out of 4mm mdf n spayed them black.

the top bar is only single square bar joined in the middle. the only change I have made from the original was to replace the joining tube with one a few inches longer.

No bowing on top bar as balance the lights out :) and to be honest with modern lights being so light have at times fitted lights top n bottom of every hole ( sad i know, but ya just gotta try it out :)

Ask all of the experienced people on here and the answer will be Ultimax. Replaceable parts and they last for ages.

Probably not what your after but I use a folding table and t-bar can't beat it for speed. Setup can be up in less than 30 seconds.

Plenty of space, just need stands for laptop or equipment but it's by far the most versatile. Never had an issue setting up in any space

Equinox screen. Only speaker bags and screen bag not used.
Love this set up - so simple and effective.

Not the snazziest set up but definitely industry standard, especially with the RCF and mac LOL.

Well - I've gone for something completely different.

I've now got a Trojan fold up jobby which is up in less than 30 seconds and has acres of space for mixers, amps etc. Been using it for the past couple of weeks and can't fault it....it's just so easily up and downable :)

It does mean I'm now using a 3m T-Bar behind me to carry the lighting which can be a bit wobbly with a Domin8r on top, so just looking for something a little more stable on that front now.

Shelves. Simples. :D

OK, I'll elucidate. There are many options. Ultimax sell them ready made, but it's possible to make ones yourselves of comparable quality for a fraction of the cost. 12mm ply or MDF and a few lengths of 55mm x 38mm batten or similar is all it takes. Black wood paint or carpet to finish them off, choice is yours. MDF tends to fray at the edges, so it's best with a frame round.

I used the 4ft Ekho stand for my first. It came with a nice bag and all the nuts had knobs on for hand tightening - however after a while they broke so now when I use it the stand is a little wobby.

Light wise the majority of mine are LED and very light so I leave the rig set up in two halves.

Really fancy trying a 4ft truss table and screen however with a separate light stand when I move to some expensive moving head jobbies
