UDG Lite Console bag - cardboard slats?

Just got a lite console and the UDG case for it which came with a number of heavy duty cardboard slats which I have no clue what they're for.

I'm assuming you put them round the side of the bag to give better protection?

With that being said, why are they lettered A and B and why do the B's have removable pouches at the bottom? :confused:

hi jim I have udg bag but its in my storage unit so cant have a proper look at it. if I remember rightly the slats with the pockets go in the top part that has the writing on it and they protect the perspex thats in there the front panel thats what the pockets do to stop scratches on it.
congrats on the liteconsole I love mine and wouldnt go back to anything else.
not at all impressed by the udg bag though think its a total waste and wish id got a flightcase instead for it only £18 dearer. really hate it.

It's certainly better than the bags it came with though - they're made out of the same crap M&S bags for life are!!!

I think a road case would be too much unless you've got a roadie at all times - I reckon I'll be able to get it up stairs alone without too much hassle but with a flight case that size?

I went with the flightcase and it is a monster. Twice as deep as the UDG bag, but because it's big and bulky it's great to put other kit on top of and that lessens journey time to and from the van. However, taking it up stairs is impossible.

The UDG bags are not fit for purpose. They are about half the price they used to be (and rightfully so - the original RRP was flightcase money...for a bag!) and a DJ friend of mine had his for less than a year before it started to fall apart. Saying that, he got in touch with UDG and they are sending him another one free of charge after agreeing that it should last longer.

I do hope UDG have made changes to their bags. I was never impressed with them and that's why I went with the big, bulky flightcase. The Liteconsole could arguably be the best investment I've ever made.

im the same bought at bpm last year bag is a bit worn at edges etc and quite heavy even though I only use 1 shelf. so its not full weight I can lift it up a few stairs but anything more no chance need a hand also dont lift it by the plastic handles they pop off and break! also if you dont load it properly its like leaning tower of pisa and falls over. crap wheels too.
zips feel like theyre gonna rip anytime very strained and im not using bottom or angled shelf in it. gonna get measuring and get swan to make me a custom case theyre fab. plus if I need a lift not that much heavier. did u get the gantry? it is a lot more open than the usual ultimax with top bar that 99%:of people use but I love it lighting room from overhead an issue though poss may get a t bar standing behind for small gigs. for larger I use 2 plinths.

Apparently those handles are for steering, and the straps are for lifting. However, the handles are better placed for lifting, and the straps require bending down (albeit, a small amount).

Cheers for the heads up on the top handles, that's certainly how I'd prefer to lift it or if they added another handle or 2 on the bottom so you could hold it up on its end and lift it by the sides (the material handles aren't exactly placed well for that)

I'm still trying to fathom out exactly how these slats would protect the perspex, anyone?
