Wireless Mic

Hi Guys,

So funny thing yesterday. I have a dual wireless mic set both connect into my mixer. On the second mic line I turned it up and got a funny buz/hum. Mic 1 was fine, swopped over the audio cables still get the noise on the second one. So not the cables. Changed the power supply, new socket etc. still buz on second mic line. Swopped mixer channel (making sure it wasn't my mixer) still got it on the second mic.

FDIC 1 is great and sounds wicked. Mic 2 would be the same if it wasn't for the hum.

Any suggestions? Faulty mic receiver?

Perhaps interference from another device. I get a buzz from one channel in a venue and its the UHF music system from the other side of the hotel.

You seem to have cut out all the other variables? possibly an earthing problem?

It's with the AKG set actually. It does sound like an earthing problem but don't use a laptop so could be an earthing problem with the mic? Going to get out another sound system today and try it with that. Only a basic thing but may help.

Try it in another mixer or battery speaker or something like that.
Make sure no iPads or anything plugged in on charge are connected to that mixer etc. via Jack/RCA etc. as that may cause a hum as mine hums when charging from the laptop (on charge too).

I have never had any issues and been using AKG for years.

So I've just tried both the mics on a new system. Smaller, admittedly but still demonstrates the same issue.

First mic works fine the other does the following.

Tried different cables, batteries nothing else is connected.

Whats the frequency because isn't a certain frequency not regulated by a mobile network now which requires a special licence?
800 mhz and so. I suppose it depends on where you are? I still use a regulated one as backup and its fine however, but thats the new forest,which is hardly hotspot central LOL.

Shouldn't require a license as far as I'm aware.

I'll check tomorrow when I get it out again.

Well I used it today and in the venue yesterday which was further out in the countryside and about half an hour from me now and both made the same noise.

Strange as it sounds like interference as, if it was a ground hum I would still get it when the mic was off but the channel live.

Oh I do love Wireless Mics haha.
