Yamaha DXR12 "Contour" switch

Just bought a pair of these and won't be using them till Sat. Those who use these. how to you use the "D Contour" switch. Is it better off for background music (or even set to "monitor") then on for the dancing or do you leave it in one position all the time? Seems to work like a 3 way "Loudness" button during by brief test.
Just thought I'd save myself some messing about when I could find out the best way to utilise this facility through the experience of others!

they're both forms of EQ.

Contour is all about mids - one side scoops 'em, the other side emphasizes them. It's the difference between a more "metal" or "modern" sound and a more "classic rock" or "vintage" sound.

I just leave it on
Seems to make the sound a little richer!
