Is this too good a price to be true?

Well it's got a physical address published on site where goods can be purchased from, a quick check on google shows no problems as I can find, and the website 'scambusters.com ' gives it a 100% OK rating 'Trust Pilot' gives them b 4* rating so they look OK to me. If you buy from then be sure to pay by credit card and you also have an additional layer of protection, but as always check for yourself, especially with them giving such a large discount, I've never used them personally.

Took the plunge. For that price I had too.

Fingers crossed that price is honoured.

It does say they are out of stock, but are ordered as required. Lets see what happens.

How odd just thought I would check their price on RCF 905 AS which I've just purchased to see if I could have got them cheaper but they are nearly £800 per cab more expensive than I paid , just shows when making a major purchase take your time and do lots of research.

They've definitely messed up. The 15's are cheaper than the 8" 10" and 12's on their website! Wish I'd seen this before I bought my new DXR12's elsewhere last week!

I've not yet heard back from them, and my order is still pending.

Got my fingers crossed on this one :)

Cannot see them honouring it though, online retailers have get out of jail clauses. In case of pricing errors.

Is that right? I thought they were the same as shops and had to honour the advertised price.

I've put my payment details in online, but the funds have not yet been taken.

Regarding the advertised price, if you look in their T&C's I think they are covered.

I remember a year or so ago, when one major online retailer cocked up, all the orders were cancelled. (Cannot remember who it was, but I know tried to purchase something and it got cancelled)

It all depends if it is an obvious mistake.

M&S got caught out a few years ago when a pricing error made plasma TVs available for less than £200.

If it is a mistake as obvious as that, then Trading Standards will side with the retailer. M&S ended up honouring the prices due to customer pressure but weren't legally obligated to.

If the price isn't an obvious mistake then Trading Standards will side with the customer.

Here's the law...(copied and pasted as there always seems to be lots of debate about this)

In stores:
If an item is priced incorrectly on the shelf, or scans at the wrong price at the till, retailers are under no obligation to honour it, under the Sale of Goods Act. They can offer the item at the correct price or refuse your money and withdraw the product from sale.
If a pricing mistake is not noticed and the customer pays for an item at the reduced cost, the purchase is considered a legally binding contract between the retailer and the customer. The shop has no legal right to claw back any money if it later realises there has been an error.

Online:
The situation is not as clear-cut online.
The legally binding contract is complete when a retailer accepts an order. However, acceptance does not necessarily happen at the point of order. Even the confirmation email may not be an acceptance. Some retailers reserve the right to cancel an order up to the point of delivery. It is therefore important to carefully check the retailer’s terms and conditions (which must be available on their website) and emails – if a retailer simply acknowledges an order, there may be no contract at that point.
According to Screwfix’s terms and conditions on its website this week, it only accepts orders once it has delivered the goods. It says the processing of a payment and acknowledgement of an order does not constitute a legally binding contract.
As with in-store purchases, once a customer has received their order a retailer generally has no right to claw back any money.

The catch:
One essential element of a contract is an intention to create legal relations. If an item has been very heavily discounted and it is clear that an error has occurred, the trader could say that it was obvious that they had no intention to form a contract at that price.
In the Screwfix case for example, the company could argue that a ride-on mower that normally costs £1,599.99 would not ever be on sale for £34.99 – and the consumer must have been aware this was a mistake.
Where an item could feasibly be priced at £34.99, something normally priced at £40 for instance, Screwfix would probably have to rely solely on its terms and conditions.
Stuart Helmer, of law firm CMS, said: “The growth of e-commerce creates huge potential for a computer glitch to lead to widespread pricing errors. Screwfix are just the latest in a long line of retailers to be caught out in this way.
“However, if the retailer has drafted its terms and conditions carefully – which Screwfix appears to have done – then, unless it has deliberately misled customers, it will usually be legally entitled to cancel the order right up to the point of delivery. Whether it chooses to do so is a question of public relations, not legal rights.”

Was it not TESCO when they were advertising iPads for £99 or something like that? I remember a few forum members putting in orders that TESCO subsequently cancelled when they realised their mistake.

Companies have to be extra careful with mispriced goods. For example, it is illegal for a company to advertise a product or service for sale at a given price to tempt you in to their store or website or wherever but then not have that item on sale at that price (like ever!!). Now would an advert for a mobile phone at 50% off the actual retailer price be considered a genuine error or a dubious, nay, illegal, attempt to sucker you in? I think most major retailers would get away with saying it was an error whilst I think some lesser known smaller retailers may find it harder to prove that it was a genuine mistake.

Also, you may be aware of the term "E&OE" which stands for "Errors and Omissions Excepted" and is pretty much a get out of jail card for retailers advertising the wrong price. There have been several of these cases, the TESCO one included, where the retailer has refused to honour the sales quoting this in their T&Cs. Maybe we as DJs should include this in our T&Cs just in case?? ;)

Looks like someone else is selling them cheap too, so perhaps the price is correct. My order is still pending though. (Hoping they are just waiting for the speakers to come into stock, they are ordered on request)

Still not heard anything regarding my order, but they have now put the price up.

Is there any point in fighting this if they don't honour the price?

If you've had an email confirming your purchase with the price on it, I would kick up a stink.

Have you tried phoning them?

Don't think I'll have a valid claim here

"2. Products pricing and information
2.1 Ordered goods by you will be as described and priced at the time of order submission. Tremendous effort is made to ensure the correctness of such details; however the Supplier reserves the right to cancel orders, prior to commitment of the legal contract (as set out in Section 1), due to erroneous price and unnatural price fluctuation in market."

I'll see what they say when they contact me.

You never know, they "may" honour the price, or offer me a discount on the full price.

Have to wait and see where this goes. (Hopefully a pair of DXR15 for a very good price :beer1:)

If not, I'll be looking else where.

Well I find that surprising. Having read the bit where they say they may not be able to guarantee the price either way on items ordered in, I'd have put money on you getting an email saying the price had gone up, and did you wish to continue at the increased price.

You got a great deal. :-)
Indeed. Assuming you get your hands on them at that price, well done that man.

However: As a fully paid up Sceptic and Tyke, I'd still keep a close on your account. ;)

Having done a bit of digging on the consumer sites and forums, Tek247 seems to have taken a downturn in customer ratings over the last 6 months. Peter may (or may not) be right to be a bit sceptical on this one. Recent customers have reported goods not being as described (ie used items instead of new) and delivery and customer service falling below expected standards:

http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews240632.html?time=six&ratingfilter=0#refineYourSearch

And this is just one review site. I'm going to withhold judgement right now. Just let us know how you get on with your order.

Excuse me! Peter's always right to be sceptical. ;) Then when he's proved wrong, it comes as a very pleasant surprise, to the curmudgeonly old git. :D

You're learning, Glasshopper. :D I sincerely hope that two pristine, fully functional DXR15s turn up on time and on budget in Rotherham as agreed.

You'll forgive me I'm sure if I point out that I'm not holding my breath, though.

Maybe better to give them a call first thing on Monday. Just query the price as you have noticed the price has increased online since you've ordered. It'll be better to cancel now rather than later if they try sell to you at the increased price.

I'm glad to be proven wrong!! :) If it had been me, with the reviews I'd seen online about the company, I'd have given them a wide berth. But fair play to you. You took the risk and it looks like it's paid off.

Now can you pick me 5 numbers and 2 Lucky Stars for Friday's Euromillions draw? ;)

I'm thinking that my MC6000 is now the limiting factor here, perhaps it's time to think about a better controller, with better microphone support. Best options?
