I'm not going to open the whole "how much do you charge" can of worms, but I'm interested to know what multiplier do you use for NYE?
2x usual fee ? 3x etc etc ?

Double time and then plus any extras they want such as confetti cannons or video etc.... I never do a baisc new years eve for less than £400 - for less than that i'd rather spend it with family and friends.

I am charging £500 for a local pub. If you start charging a lot less you are undervalueing yourself. Think how much money the venue will be making by having you there.

It obviously totally depends on the size of the pub etc

Here's one for you though, when I started out around 7 years ago, I worked every Saturday night in a pub for £80. The landlord always seemed to grudge it, but I refused to do it for less, although it sometimes made me feel guilty on quiet nights :eek:

However, at the end of one of these quiet nights, the barmaid let slip that they only took £450 for the day, and that they usually clear a grand on a decent night :mad:

NYE, Christmas Night and the 'wifes' birthday are the 3 days of the year I won't work. Family time is precious and I prefer to spend those days with the family.

I always try and have one of the big nights off - usually i'll work NYE but have christmas eve off to be with friends and family... - havent got a wife or girlfriend (well not this week anyway :D ) so don't need to worry about working on their birthdays / anniversaries..


Although not sticking to my usual rule this year as my local twisted my arm to do christmas eve for them so booked up on both the big xmas nights now..... On the plus side as it's my local most of my friends and family will be in there anyway so will just be like not working.... and wont have to worry about driving home or the kit as can leave it setup till the next day :D

Have you ever worked NYE? I usually find I have as good a time as the crowd do! Everyone is up for getting drunk and having a good party, great fun :daft:

Always work New Years Eve. Double rate. I always take my lady as my roadie; so we are together and it pays for our winter holiday when we have a whole week in the sun whilst the rest of England is freezing!

im still free this new year had 3 enquiries but no one wants to pay what im asking but as a dad of 2 youngsters im starting to like the idea of my first ever newyear with the family. still time but im out xmas eve so i wont lose sleep if nothing comes in.

Depends on the event / venue I don't have a fixed rate as it were, but needless to say its usually about double time thinking off the top of my head. I've never really rated new years eve as a good night out on a personal level so I'd rather be working!

Much to my partners dismay...but her birthdays 8th January so she never complains tooooo much.

I've worked every one apart from one in the past 20 odd years though.

One night I never work now though is Christmas Eve.

That's family time for me.
