Anyone recommend a decent courier service

I need to send some really heavy items for repair, and it's going to cost a small fortune to transport them down. Just wondered if anyone has any experience of good cost effective couriers. Any recommendations?

Interparcel.

Select their standard service which is UPS. UPS and Hermes have been the best as they do not employ muppets who dash about on a ridiculous time constraint that they can never upkeep, thus ensuring your package is delivered to the right place (not a neighbour down the road) in one piece.

Very cheap too. about £8 for most send packages.

Should cost about £18-20 depending on cubic dimensions and weight.
I usually estimate a little under and as long as you don't take the mic they won't flag it.

It's two subs I have to send, about 35kg each. Most quotes I've received have been crazy expensive. Just wondered if there is a cost effective courier company that specialises in heavy transport?

I use Parcel2Go... you can choose the courier and service to find the best one for what you need.

Don't use UPS - i've worked for them. You'll get your parcel, but if it works, that'll be a minor miracle!

DHL are careful carriers.

You want a pallet service - usually £30-50 with some high weights as they are couriered in large trucks.
I have sent large items via inter parcel, but a specialist logistics haulage company should be competitive.
The only problem you have is the weight. Bung both on a pallet and you should get it cheaper.

I've always found UPS to be exceptionally good, and Hermes to be exceptionally bad, my personal recommendation would be to ask the company you are sending goods to, to recommend a courier. They may be able to arrange a collection at the bulk rate that they are probably charged themselves.

I have found them both very good and the drivers very courteous. My Hermes may differ greatly from area to area as it looks like its people who do it in their spare time as they drive domestic cars. I like UPS as they use proper vans, which require a greater degree of qualification to drive.

I feel so sorry for the other couriers who look like they will get shot if they miss their dead line.
Thats not good if you ask me as you can see the worry in their eyes, so I usually go on whether the driver is chilled.
Royal Mail staff always are the best in my area for that, they actually stop for a chat sometimes. :)

All services have been on time and the delivery has arrived so can't really complain.
