Here's the scenario: Customer who's not very close to me wants reassurance that I'm not going to blind half her guests when I turn my lights on. I suggested I might be able to send videos of moonflowers in action, and particularly Tripars as uplighters.

Big question then, is it just as easy as taking videos, saving them, and attaching them to an email? I just know it can't be, life's not like that. Is there a format that's best for this? Thanks in advance.

Filesize may be an issue when sending via email. My suggestion would to be to upload the video to youtube, but set the preference of the uploaded clip to 'unlisted' in the youtube settings (so only the person you provide the youtube link to can view it). Then just email the customer the link.

Much easier than faffing about sending the actual video to them via email.

Thanks Shaun, you've jogged my memory about something. Rather than using Youtube, I was going to use Dropbox.

Dropbox would work, but even then it involves them having to download the file before viewing. Youtube is just a case of them clicking on the link and it's instantly viewed.

Good luck whichever you decide. :)

Youtube much easier as it require little effort on behalf of the client. :)

Yup, send a clip up to Youtube or Vimeo, set it to unlisted - it's way easier than you uploading it attached to an email, the customer downloading it.. then trying to play it. Even in these enlightened times it's still possible to make a video file that a computer at the other end won't be able to play. And that's not even accounting for other folks' IT skills ;)
