Hi guys
I've been offered a few things that I can't find much info on
One is a pair of passive speakers which I guess are some years old, they are McGregor and have a metal badge on the back which says XP 2 in quite large letters. They are 15" drivers plus compresion horns and I think they were 400W RMS but not quite sure. The guy was first asking £200 for these and rates them very highly but now says 'make me an offer'. I'm looking for something decent to replace my KAM215.s with. These any good? I can't find them on google.
The other thing I was offered elsewhere, but really have decided it was not of much use to me as I am not playing big enough venues to set it up...... anyway there were four of these KAM KSF15PA passives (15" with horns) http://www.adverts.ie/pa-systems/kam-ksf-15-pa-speakers-pair/1344066 and two of these big reflex passive bass bins (on wheels) which said KAM ZSUB 18 on the back of them them. The guy fired just one of bins plus one top up in a big wareouse and they didn't half sound punchy. Interesting thing is when i search for these, the KAM ZSUB 18 finds speakers like this https://www.djkit.com/kam/kam-z-sub-15-mk2-speakers.html
But the ones I saw were much larger than that, at a guess 1.1m or so high, and around 70-90cm wide and deep, I believe they are classed as a 'scoop' design and looked more like this http://www.dancetech.com/index.cfm?loading=pa&pa_loader=181 but with the speaker driver not visible at all, I'm guessing it was actually mounted backwards in the top half of the cab.
The tops were rated 300W RMS Continuous each and the bass bins 500W RMS continuous each and he said they had 'rubber cone speakers' whatever difference that makes. I think I would only be interested in them if I thought they were really worth buying and stashing on one side for large venues in the future, as no way could I set them up in the pubs I am currently gigging. Unless I just used the four tops with my 18" QTX bins.
Anyone shed any light on what I was actually offered here? The guy says he needs them 'gone' and for £280 the lot it sounded like quite a bit of kit for the money, and possibly negotiable.
