Well my trusty budget speakers can now be put to rest, the upgrades are on the way.

I was limited to a budget with I set up 18 months ago so started off with 4xEkho 12a tops and QTX 15" subs. It was a decent size PA for what cost me less than £600 with the aim of doing 1 years work.

I had a lot of stuff to learn about the audio side having been out the game for a long time so had not wanted to ruin any good gear and I have to say its done me proud as a PA. One of the subs however has died due to my clumsiness smashing off the knobs and 2 of the tops have been re-coned due to getting over zealous at times.

End result I thought it was time to get on the wagon and invest in some industry std speakers to match the other purchases Ive made.

So long story short I read a ton of reviews, spoke to some people and had a listen at a local music shop. Ive bought 2x FBT X-pro 12a's and a vertus sub. With covers for all its set me back around £1400 and when I pay this off i'll be getting a second sub.

I'm hoping by the end of the year I have the rig I want and have some plans for the summer with making a permanent DJ stand.

Was that a price for them new? If so, where from?! :D

I'm already thinking about replacing my Mackies & I've not even gigged with them yet. I mean I'm thinking about what I'll replace them with when I can afford it. At 15kg apiece, those FBTs look like a nice idea. Looking at the LF response though I think the SRM450s of mine would be better without a sub, but I'm planning on adding a sub anyway.

Incidentally, how much does the sub weigh? I realise that subs are never gonna be light by virtue of what they have to do & how they're made, but...

Edit: regarding the knacked qtx sub, I might just know a man who could find it useful, along with the other one. Not top notch, but better than no sub at all!

20kg for sub

I'll have to look and see where I got them from as I have a sivv head.

Just seem to remember the total being about 1400 with covers and yes new
