It's all happening today.

Received an email enquiry around 15 minutes ago for a corporate event. The enquiry has come via a recommendation.
Hardly any information - The usual stuff though.... "Are you available on such and such a date for a corporate event" and the times...

Ok, so my reply went back immediately and I requested the usual information, venue, duration, requirements....I added "Is it Disco Entertainment that you are looking to book?"

The reply....

"Can you clarify what you mean by Disco Entertainment"

Is it really that hard to understand what Disco Entertainment is?
Are people that dense?

Anyone else had a silly question like this before?

Well if they're looking for someone to compere an event with background music where suitable, I doubt they'd be happy with a full on rave.

" Corporate Event " covers a wide range of possibilities.

Without speaking to the mate who recommended me who knows I am a DJ and who she mentioned in her email, I couldn't tell you what she meant by corporate.
He knows I am a DJ and I'd say he's mentioned that?

With all fairness disco is a genre of music. Its only in the UK they class a mobile DJ as a MOBILE disco.
Could be foreign, or just checking that you will not play disco all night. :)

Also, they may want a host and DJ as well as some audio visual so just checking that you will not just bang out trance. :)

I know Disco is a genre of music and I am sure the enquirer does too.
It was a pretty vague email enquiry from someone that clearly does not have a clue or isn't normally tasked with sourcing the entertainment for corporate bookings.
I could have elaborated a bit more on her email content but chose not to.

In short, she asked what I charged for a corporate event for 8 hours (5.00pm - 01.00am). She didn't say what she was after so I asked the questions.
One of those questions was "Is it Disco Entertainment that you are looking to book?"
Her reply was "Yes, it is" and then "Can you clarify what you mean by Disco Entertainment".

Email is amazing. But this sounds like an occasion when you want to try one of those telephone things. I find them quite useful for actually finding things out instantly rather than taking 3 days of emails back and forth.

That's very true but at this moment in time I have quite a lot of other stuff to do.
I texted my mate who works at the company earlier (didn't know he worked there until she mentioned his name in the email) and I asked him if he knew what she was after. His reply was that she was a bit 'scatty' and that she is not there for the next couple of days so I think I'll leave it for now.
