I've had my EVOX 8's for a month or so now and used them 4 times.

The last two gigs I've noticed a strange sound like high buzz (not low hum) / distorted noise from one of the top passive speakers. Thinking it may be loose connection or faulty lead I've changed all these and it still reappears under certain conditions. Lastnight it was a couple of times and most notably on "Hey Jude" I ended up turning the "Hi" on the mixer right down and it stopped it. It was also noticeable sometimes when speaking on the mic.

Having never blown a tweeter or any speaker I'm not sure what it would sound like if it was blown or blowing. I've "Googled" and "You Tubed" and it sounds like the symptoms of a blown tweeter just looking for some proper techy advice.

Only had them less than a month so pretty disappointed if it is blown.

The EVOX 8 don't have tweeters as such. The passive tops have 8 fullrange 2 inch units that cover the spectrum above 220hz.

I could be that one of the eight units in one side has an issue.

I would be tempted to get the fixed or return them under warranty.

Thanks for that, hopefully that's the issue. They're definitely under warranty as I've had them about a month! Will go for a fix / warranty repair via Ampman the UK RCF fixer man

What was the outcome of this in the end?

I sent it back to Ampman in July last year and they returned it saying there was no fault. However, the problem persisted so I sent it to them again in August where this time they found it and replaced 2 of the 8 full range under warranty. So far so good. Nothing untoward since.
