Speaker cable upgrade

So am off to do a mates wedding in Nottingham tomorrow and decided to get me some nice new cables as my spending this month.

So bought 4 x 10m Van Damme Mic/Speaker cables as they were on at a decent price in the local maplins - yes I went in as needed some iso block fora car stereo swap.

Anyone else use these - am I likely to see any difference

Simple answer: no. Unless you were using bits of damp string before.

Mythology about audio cables is mostly smoke & mirrors.. Cables formed by albino Patagonian virgins, made of the finest copper angel hair are nothing but money making scams. You can improve on crap cheap cables in terms of longevity & robustness because they generally use very thin, not very hard wearing materials.. same goes for the connectors they use - but beyond that, nah.

I bought 4x 10m 'Thesssnake' cables from Thomann & they're very good

Van Damme make ok cables which are usually overpriced. Pay more than a quid a metre & you're being robbed blind.

You are indeed correct , but it would work , may a bit (lot) of hum...;) , well OK a load of hum , basically unusable.

I use really expensive Vandamme/neutric play out - mixer cables (jack - RCA) and can't tell any difference from that and the £3 plastic moulded ones, which actually outlasted 2 sets of top end Proel cables. i think the main benefit is the solders and general wear last that much longer. They look and feel sexy too. :)

Oh I LURVE Neutrik connectors. Even after having to make 32 XLR-XLR cables when I was on work experience at a radio station. They beat those ITT/Cannon style ones hands down every time. Who still uses XLR connectors with screws for pity's sakes? My first ever mic didn't have a detachable cable, but the next one did, and all the screws kept coming loose from the XLR plug every 5 minutes :mad:

but a cable feeling sexy? Can cable coverings be a fetish too? Time to call my therapist. Again

Especially with the braid too. useful in tight spaces.
