I use Freestyler, and love it - the preset scenes I have built I am very happy with.

But there are times when I want to control a fixture live. What's the easiest way to do this in Freestlyer?

It's either setting a colour on the wash or manually moving the scanners to a set position.

Didn't realise there were preset scenes!

Once you've selected the fixture there is a icon at the top which shows all controls / windows.

Click it then it'll bring up macros which are a selection of buttons for colour changes and gobo wheel / whatever your fixture has. If your fixture doesn't bring up many / any windows you can use a dirty long-winded method by clicking the little blue arrow on the right and manipulating the dmx values manually.

If your unhappy with the fixtures macros you can make your own using freestylers fixture editor. This may take some time but we'll worth it if you plan on using it regularly!

Sorry, I mean sequences - not presets, ie, the sequences I have built and run from cues.

When I'm running cues, it takes all the above fixture controls "offline", so they don't seem to then work, like they do when creating a sequence.

Ahh yes, it's a pain - unless there is another way I normally end up:

Turning off the sound to light.
stopping any running cues.
closing the cue window.
pressing a trianglar? button on the right of the icons.

bit of a pain ... I would love to go between the present shows built into moving heads and controlling their exact location but the only solution I can think of is creating good shows ... grumble grumble...
