I have a friend asking for advice on buying a setup for his daughter for Karaoke at home. He's already got a laptop, but needs speakers, amp (or possibly powered speakers), mixer, mics and flightcase.

He's got a budget of £300 (ish).

Just thought I'd seek recommendations on here before I went looking online to help him.

In general terms, I'd say a pair of cheap powered speakers, 10" or possibly 12". Perhaps even 8"
Mixer, well I used this (http://www.gak.co.uk/en/behringer-eurorack-ub1202fx/101693?gclid=Cj0KEQjwnMOwBRCAhp-ysqCwypkBEiQAeSy1-fYUS1aGD8gBuzKLDno4ShxuLJKt7cbaLEC3vybPyLcaArCq8P8 HAQ) last night, and it was fine. The equivalent Alto is better, I'd say. Neither will need casing, as they're flatbed ones.
Mics, well these (http://www.juno.co.uk/products/behringer-xm1800s-ultravoice-vocal-instrument-microphone-set/486217-01//?currency=GBP&flt=1&gclid=Cj0KEQjwnMOwBRCAhp-ysqCwypkBEiQAeSy1-a7D03AgY3PlKvqZ58gbDL2w6j0KzJaXtSuj09awG5kaAgvb8P8 HAQ) won't break the bank, and I've used very similar ones with no problem.

Thanks Peter. The mics seem ideal. It's a system to be used mostly in his daughter's room. But needs it to be powerful enough for the occasional house party and summer BBQ.

I came across this small alto, do you think this would be suitable?

Re speakers, yes, guardedly. The TX, as has been pointed out on here aren't as good as the TS range, but I said cheap, so can't nitpick.

Mixer? The bigger Alto would boost the spend by £40, the Thomann by £20.

Shaun, the Zephyr that you have linked to wouldn't be any good for karaoke as there are no onboard effects therefore there's no echo/reverb. Look out for mixers with onboard DSP FX as these are much better for karaoke. This is the FX version:
