Not sure where to post but does anyone one here travel from southeast to midland?

Hey guys - someone has something I would like to buy but they are in Clacton-on-Sea and I am in Stoke-on-Trent and they will not post or courier it and the cost of a pallet even if they would is probably gonna kill the deal anyway

I'm not to bothered about time scales, even if it takes months rather than weeks but is there any chance anyone could help move four fairly large 15" passive speakers from one area to another - or possibly by a few stages in between if a few could help?

Sounds like it could be a possible job for a forum collaboration if there are any willing volunteers to help me out

I usually hire a van for that type of job.
You only need it for a day and van rental isnt too expensive.

I just bought two big subwoofers off ebay and it cost £70 to ship them both by Parcel Force.
You can probably double that for 4 speakers.

Yes I do have like Peter says (but very occasioanlly it is a clean great transit lol) - I just didn't fancy driving all the way to Clacton-on-Sea and back, 208 miles each way via the A14 or 221 miles each way via the M1 = 20 gallons round trip = almost as much as he wants for the speakers!

Hence the enquiry if any good globe trotting fellows on here regularly does part of this journey starting from Clacton anyway and could get the speakers a bit nearer to me as I am in no rush but would like them :) I heard in the past that items have found their way across the country via the help of this forum here.

Dicky lad, you have to be as fortunate as some folk here seem to be. One well respected forum member was keen to buy some very heavy speakers from Norfolk, of all places, but delivery was the stumbling block. Turns out I was working thirty miles from there that night, so grabbed them and took them to Coalville next day. He's a jammy git at times, the member concerned. :)

At Coalville, for reasons I'm not quite sure of, I then gained temporary custody of some even bigger and heavier cabs, which subsequently ended up in Sheffield. :daft:

This guy down in Clacton has four of the exact same Class D 15" passive speaker as you sold me. Three are good workers and the other needs a horn compression driver.

I have found that the pair I already have to be absolutely reliable work horses that have handled everything I have thrown at them with a rather powerful Crown Pulse 21100 amp - and they have lapped it up and sound IMHO a class apart from all these ABS plastic active speakers most folk seem to use these days. I much appreciate you parting with them, and for my part they are not going anywhere else now ;)

So I would really have liked to buy these four of the same as they don't appear to be particularly commonplace and they are there for the taking (OK admitteddly one needs some work) but he only want's £150 for the lot - however it seems geography has gotten the better of me this time. What a shame as I would have given them a good new home but never mind.

Oh BTW mentioning Coalville - are there any dates for 2016? I have googled it but absolutely nothing shows up :zip:

If they are the same ones I can tell you they are still doing a superb job, especially for Northern Soul, Motown and Bass heavy modern R&B & Future House - sitting on top of a modified pair of 18" bass bins that is.

No no--I wasnt suggesting that--I saw them with Peter when we had a speaker fest at his house years ago when Class D were in business, I believe no longer sadly as I wanted to buy their proto type Class D amp.

The Class Ds sounded good but sadly I was put off because I couldnt get them on to my speaker stands easily as I wanted to run them on their own.

Obviously Peter had no problem.:rolleyes:

Why on earth I bought my heavy Peavey UL15s afterwards i cant possibly explain, except I like a lot of noise.

The Class Ds look easy to maintain and replace parts, although none of my Peavey set ups have blown despite a lot of dancing red lights over the last 10 years.:daft:

Its all drainpipes sticking out of boxes these days apparently.:D
