I've just spent absolutely ages searching through the forums search facility trying to find certain threads relating to T-Bar stands which I remember from before.
For example I remember Shaun talking about a stand with regards to his UV lights so one might try searching:

UV - Too short for the search facility
Shaun UV - Not found the right thread in the top 10 pages
ukpartydj UV - 3rd page

Or try this in google:

site:http://www.forum.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk UV = 3rd Result
site:http://www.forum.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk Shaun UV = 1st Result
site:http://www.forum.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk ukpartydj UV = 1st Result

I won't be touching the search facility for some time I think!

Good to know.

I guess the forum search facility is using very old technology now opposed to Google that is state of the art and changing on a daily basis.

It does go to show however, that you should be careful about what you say on here (unless it's in the supporters area, which is private) as we do tend to show up quite highly on Google searches.

Can't or can't be bothered to?
I'm sure it wouldn't be a huge deal for vBulletin to search for 2 letter words - which was half the problem!

Whilst 2 letter word searches are technically possible within the forum settings (I've just tweaked it to allow it). The software itself doesn't seem to like it. A search for UV just brings up "sorry - no matches". The software also won't search for common 2 letter words (at, so, be...etc).

So...google wins.

Hmm. I'm wondering if it's possible to embed a search facility on the forum using Google's search engine. I'm sure you can add this to a website but I'm not sure how easy it would be to do it on a forum like this. I maintain another forum elsewhere so I might look in to this further.

That's very true and why you shouldn't say anything here that you wouldn't say to a client (or potential client or anyone else!) face to face!
