Hi guys
I am trying to repair four of these Zoom Colourbars
Part of the problem seems to be that three of them are set to Master - and I can't seem to firgure out how to change the master/slave settings
The lights are same as these ones http://www.forum.mobilediscodirectory.co.uk/showthread.php?18661-Led-Mood-Lighting-For-Sale and I understand they were quite popular at some time.
However I have not had any luck finding a user manual
Any one know how the Master and Slave modes are controlled on these fixtures
Cheers
Rich

I just thought "I used to have 2 of them"
No idea sorry, I could not work them out in 2009 either, hence why I sold them. :)

Sorry Peter -that is a different make/model
@Toby - did you have a user manual with them?

Sadly I'm in the same boat here (though technically I didn't own them, I borrowed them for a period from a friend).
Unfortunately I didn't have a manual and I never had any reason to mess with the settings. From memory they had a LED display at the bottom for the DMX address/mode and if you connected two together using a DMX cable, they just automatically paired up. I'm sorry I can't help more?

The three digit LED display:
Digit 1 (0-9) sets the mode which basically means the pattern, for example VU meter, peak dot etc
Digit 2 (0-9) sets the main colour - this is the 'foreground' colour for the pattern
Digit 3 (0-9) sets the background colour for the pattern
That's as far as I can get - can't see anyway to set DMX address or master/slave
When connecting two of them together I found one 'became' master and the other one the slave. At this point the 'Slave' LED display becomes locked, which seems quite reasonable
When I connected a third one i found I had two masters and one slave, which then acts a bit crazy to say the least :p
The fourth one also automagically becomes master, but I have another fault on that one well - whetever I set the LED display to, I always get the VU pattern in green
These came from the local disco shop some years ago - I will pop up there today and see if they can help. I can't find anyway to change the behaviour so I have more slaves. :daft:

Nope i bought them, my original DJ setup (+ yourdj.co.uk) domain from a bloke in Southampton.
He did not keep any boxes or manuals unfortunately. I got a good deal really, the domain only cost £35 LOL.
Sorry I cant help.

How hard can it be to work out a few menu heiroglyphics?

Now here's a thought Rich. Have you tried holding down one of the buttons (like UP) when you power it up? Something like that might let you into the menus.

Rich. This has been bugging me. I think I might have something. I looked at Toby's advert post & saw the video. That told me there are 5 segments in the fixture (which may be a red herring). Going from there, I found a thing by Showtec which looks very similar (5 segments yada yada).. which has a manual (kind of) here:
http://www.manualslib.com/manual/803354/Showtec-Led-Bar-Dmx.html?page=6#manual
I tried to find a PDF but drew a blank.
I'll add at this point that some of the feature descriptions in the manual kind of ring true with what's already been said about the fixture.. but this quote from the manual is a bloody classic:
"Press the Blackout button to view the menu". SO OBVIOUS!!
Short press of that button to go into the menus, but a long press activates blackout. What kind of :muppet: wrote the firmware? :daft:

Well done for finding that, looks like the zoom one.

I love a good Google challenge, me :)
As for getting into the menus with the [b]blackout[b] button, it's totally illogical. Usually when a button has a second function its primary purpose is a short press & the second function is a long press but apparently not in this case :muppet:

Hi Justin - thanks for insight mate - The lights are in my storage at the moment as I am busy with another couple of things, but will get a look at them and see if pressing the Blackout button enters the menu as you say ;)

That manual was the right one and sorted the problem - all the units are working fine together now
Cheers Justin, I owe you a pint at Coalville mate :beer1:

Heh BPM was a bit of a disappointment. Not a total loss though, it turned out to be a nice long walk ;-)
I'm mostly looking forward to Coalville for the craic not the gear demos. Hope it turns out a lot better than the first NADJ meeting I went to - not that it'd be hard (there were only 2 members & 5 non members showed up at the AGM!). I'm sure it will.
