hi all I am looking to get some speakers and have come across some kam speakers. 2x kam ZSub15 Pro base speakers and 2x Kam IMS 15 speakers. This also comes with a AUDIO HEAD AH2400 watt 2 channel amp. Does anyone know if these are good speakers and a good amp. I need them for small to medium size venues. they are in mint condition and I can get it all for £350 is this a good deal? Thanks for replies in advance. :)

General advice here is to listen before you buy (ideally alongside other speakers so you can compare sound and volume) so you know what you're buying.

I'd have to say that it is what it is for the money. Kam speakers aren't great, I heard this set up running (though I can't tell you which amp was in use) some years ago and I was quite disappointed with the low end and not really impressed by the rest either.

However, for £350 notes for 2 tops, 2 subs and an amp, it's a good rig to get started with (albeit quite a heavy one :D). At the top end of the market, you'd be lucky to get ONE speaker, ONE sub or just the Amp for £350, even second hand ;) I'd expect to sell it and upgrade at some point, so rather than asking "is it a good deal", I'd be more inclined to ask "when I sell it on, will I get my money back?"

Julian is pretty much bang on the money. It's not a rig I would buy expecting many years of satisfied operation. Neither would I outright say don't buy it, merely to consider it at best as a stopgap.

Slightly better options for slightly more money?
My regularly suggested Proel V15A active cabs, which can be found ex-demo at around £500 a pair, or a pair of Peavey Hisys/UL with 15" drivers, and a PV2600 to drive them. That's doable for £500.
Yes, I know it's two boxes less, and £150 more expensive, but I'd back them to do as much as the KAM.

Never fear asking for advice, better to ask multiple times and get a good rig, than buy blind and get rubbish.

There is not much info on the cam ones re max SPL, but as per Excalibers post I had the passive Peavey Hysis 15 for some time and could not believe how light and loud it was for the money (I think the max SPL was over 127 but don't quote me on that). From memory it was about 12-15kg I think?

Is this your first set of speakers as 15 inch is quite large for tops, you will get knackered carrying them and the subs about, when you could get a more efficient smaller and lighter system for similar cash. Depends on the events you want to do and space in your vehicle I guess?? £350 is pretty cheap really, so if they do the job then great and as you say you can upgrade to a more efficient set at a later date. I am summing you don't want to go active (i.e. the amp is in the speaker?).

I think these were them. if you can do without the subs then you could also get a half decent amp and you would have a reasonable sounding system for just over £300. You should get a good bass response of the black widow drivers.

hi all thanks for your replies. Yes this is my first speaker set up I am hopping to go 50,50 with someone else that I know on the speakers as i don't have that much money I can only put in about £150 to £175 to buy my half. so do you all think I should try and find some thing else or will these be ok for the set up I need them for which is a small to medium size venue. I told the person I was buying them from that I would let him know today my decision so some more replies will be much appreciated. thanks
