How do you advertise your website.

Does any one use adwords ?

Or is there a better way.

Clearly if you are say a "Manchester based disco" and your website uses those words you are more likely to get a hit than if you call it some oddball name.

I tried them around a year ago when I got a voucher for £75, I added £75 of my own money to this, to get even more credits, I can't remember the exact details of the deal I was offered, but it sounded good at the time. Unfortunately it turned out to be a complete waste of time and money, it didn't even cover the outlay. I very much doubt I will use them again. I think you would be better spending your money on SEO if you can find someone who really knows what they are talking about, be careful, there's a lot out there who don't.

Adwords does work! But you need a big budget! Say £400 pm! Not worth it if you only do one man band discos though. Depends on your business I suppose.

I've had some enquiries from adwords, I'm not entirely sure it works amazingly for us DJs though - I've not seen a significant improvement.
SEO and adding your site to directories like this one would be my advice.

Build up 1000+ posts on here, that certainly helps. Other forums, youtube, social media too. :)

Making the content relevant, design nice and linking to decent people is the best way to bump it up google IMO. One would assume that using Google company to advertise would bump it up, but they still have to stick to some very strict rules that limit favouritism.

Get yourself on free directory listing sites too, and link back to them (the links don't have to be on your homepage). But - make sure you make the text you enter to describe your activities in those directories isn't just copied & pasted from your own pages.

Find a local DJ that has a links page and see what they link to. Not done this for many years, but its a good way to see what works.
I am not a fan of listing sites as you get goons ringing your up trying to sell you stuff. Google Maps listing also. :)

I find social media helps a lot, other than that I use the old fashioned method of handing out business cards and flyers :zip:

Well getting people to the site is key, people that will sit on it and read through the content - e.g. clients.
Good videos also get people to stay on the site boosting the bounce time. :)

You would think that you would need a million people a day to boost it, but it probably only gets a few in reality, its the ones that count, that are most important.

Despite all the gold information on my site, most people hit index, have a quick look and then go straight to contact.
Just keeps people on the index a bit longer. I love it when a client has been to every page on the site and properly researched my business. :)

Adwords in my experience doesn't yield amazing results. Think about your target market and what the best way to advertise to them is for example cheap and cheerful facebook wedding groups or if more international and bigger budgets then places like rock n roll bride blogs might be more worthwhile.

I think tailored pages work pretty well to get traffic to those pages instead of the index, but still the majority are index for me.
I get a lot of traffic from random keywords though so it does confuse things somewhat! I remember not long ago one of my top keywords was "disco glow stick" or something like that until I updated the offending page. I had a absolute mass of people visiting one of my pages based on Mr and Mrs quiz, made £180 in advertising on that page but it's died now and I only get like a penny a week :(

Never go with Adwords Express!

I had a Google chap suggest it recently. He said the main down side was that you couldn't see what words were being selected for you. I found I was getting 0% business from it.

By coincidence I recently paid for another software programme that allowed me to see what the keywords used were. Now I know that for some business is not what it used to be but "Sex Parties Glasgow" is not a route I need to go down thanks very much Google!
