how easy is it to change a driver / tweeter ?

How easy is it to change a driver ? Been offered a set of wharfedale evp x15 but one has a blown driver, how easy are they to replace and would it be wise to replace both with matching drivers ? I'm not normally one for tinkering.

In the case of that speaker I'd say pretty easy. Remove the front grille, remove the screws around the dud driver/tweeter and prise it away from the front. Carefully disconnect the wires making note of where they go. Put dud to one side. Get new one, connect wires onto it the same way (they might only go on one way anyway), offer the new one up to the cabinet & replace all screws nice & tight. If there aren't metal threaded holes, be careful not to overtighten the screws.

A compression driver unit (often used in horn tweeters) is slightly harder, but in that case you're replacing the rear section of the unit - there'll be screws on the back. Carefully remove the old one, then line up the new, insert & tighten screws.. then replace it.
