Bought two of these as a backup or to use for small bookings.

First one was DOA, opened the second one and it worked for 10 mins, then sound to light stopped working, then the mic fell inside the unit finishing off with blowing electric in the house and then dying.

Not really impressed with them :) The supplier said they have sold over 100 without any problems. Refunded and moved on quickly.

Interesting, I have a couple of these units, and I too have issues.

My problem has been the soldering, attaching the wires to the LED's

So far, I've had 3 wires come loose, and I've had to re solder them.

So yes, there appears to be a QC issue with these lights :(

Felt very cheap to me. I cannot solder so no chance of me keeping them. Thought it was a good cheap backup. Ah well :)

I have the ADJ Tri Phase which has served me well for many years, although the sound activation has just started to play up. Must check with my DJ shop.

i wonder if like certain other manufacturers they are cutting corners, getting the job done cheaper and consequently reducing the standard of their products.?

I had a Peavey Box Amp go after 5 years ( just outside warranty) made in China whilst the 11 year old Peavey Powered Mixer made in USA soldiers on no worries, I was also warned not to buy speaker stands from Stagg whose excellent steel stands i bought many years ago but apparently are cheap and cheerfully now made in China of rather inferior materials.

This is not progress :daft::daft::daft:

Much be down to batches perhaps?

I got mine from Simplysound and they say mine are the only faulty ones out of over 100 .

Of all the people I know who have ADJ lighting they've all had bother with it one way or other. Lenses falling out of Spherions, lenses falling out of Revos, bits dropping off Pocket series gear... Rather them than me, I say. Mind, I wouldn't put a Revo out if it was on fire. Which it probably would be if you left it on too long!

Comes with the territory of bringing out new products every five minutes

Well hello there--- Im one who hasnt had any real problems with an older ADJ product.

6 years plus out of my Tri Phase is about all I would expect for an LED product these days.

Not saying im going to buy another one based on this post. :daft:

IT is such a shame,
These effects are good while they work but are becoming very unreliable!

I am on my eighth Mini Kinta and really do not have much faith that it will get through the next gig.

Well there you go. Older ADJ product. Nowadays they seem to be shoving something new out every day or so. Not that it takes long to stick a badge on the front of some Chinese thing & write a passable manual for it..

Unfortunately I think you are right--we are the victims of certain :muppet: in this country who think everything should be CHEAPER.

It doesnt occur to these no brainers that theres no such thing as something for nothing.

Im old school so not particularly in that way of thinking as everything now seems to be POUND SHOP mentality and quality to match.

Im not knocking China--- as consumers drive demand.

I can honestly say I've never had an issue with the ADJ lighting that I have. To be fair, most of my lights are from ACME (now part of Prolight Concepts Ltd who own several other brands including W-Audio (Warrior), LEDJ, Equinox, Transcension and are not to be confused with ProSound!! ) and I've always found ACME to be very reliable. But most of my uplights are ADJ TriPar Profiles and I also have the ADJ QuadScan and I've not had any problems with them at all.

On to your 8th? If they keep failing how on earth did you get as high as 3?? I can see trying a second unit could be helpful but if two failed on me there wouldn't be third.

And this helps every Joe (or Joanne) and his (or her!) dog to think they can be a DJ. The prices of equipment are no longer a bar to anyone other the most dedicated of operator who wants to take the industry seriously and put out a top quality service. For a couple of hundred pounds and a hard-drive full of ripped-off music, you too could be making beer money as a DJ! :zip:
