Alto ts 2 series

As I'm starting from scratch again I've been looking for an active paon a fairly tight budget. I don't want to buy used and don't want to cart a sub around which means I'm leaning towards wharfedale titan 15s , studiomaster drives or alto truesonic 15s . There's plenty of reviews about but not for the new altos. Has anybody heard them running yet ? I've heard the old ones but wondered how the new ones compare

I've not heard them, but the newer TX series is a far lower spec than the TS. As with many budget items, the old ones were fine if used within their limits.

The newer take series seems to have an uprated amp and I like the design but they claim to have redesigned the "sound architecture" and I wonder if they still sound as good.

Aha. I may have mixed up my cabs. I was referring to the TX range which followed, and are a lower priced, lower specced item.
The old TS are the ones I've heard.
The TS2 are the new version, and look much prettier, and should offer a power increase as well. They're astonishingly keenly priced. I haven't heard these, either, but the only misgiving the specs on paper cause me is that they have very high amounts of power into the HF, compared to the LF. I wonder if this will make them a bit " bright" overall? Let us know what you think to them, Simon. It will be interesting to hear what you think.

If they sound better, then the TS2 will surely become the go-to speaker for cheap-a... er I mean people looking for extreme value for money. If they can get over their reputation for being easy to blow up that is. My TS115A have been no trouble whatsoever & as soon as I see the first flicker of the limit LED I turn it down a bit.

That isn't to say there haven't been times when I thought something had blown up though. God. The first time, I powered up my PA & heard no bass coming out of one side at all. Turned out to be a duff XLR connector on a cable. Next time, about 2 hours into a 5 hour gig I heard only bass coming out of one speaker. That turned out to be a blinkin Northern Soul track's fault. Seriously man, who mastered that with only bass on the right hand channel? :mad: Death's too good for some people, honestly.

They arrived today....just as I was about to go out to work so they are still sat at home in their boxes.
First job tomorrow will be to give them a blast

Finally managed to give them a blast. Set mixer eq flat and had contour switch on and was blown away by them. So much more punch than I was expecting and i couldn't get them to clip no matter how hard I pushed them. Build quality seems good too. Not too bright on the top end either, its a fairly clean and natural sound with lots of thumpy bass.

My son bought 10inch Altos last year and they sound pretty good--so im sure these will be pretty good allowing for price paid.

As regards clipping im sure that could be arranged if you are passing this way anytime :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

If the actives have a builtin limiter, you'll have to work hard to make em clip.

I have had BAD experiences with sound equipment restrictions in the past---(not limiters)
