All setup with wireless controller for my DMX show!

I recently bought a Numark Orbit for the purposes of controlling freestyler much easier with a midi controller.
Very impressed for the price and after spending a little while setting up some buttons and shows etc I've got a little demo video:

I have been looking at the options at the PM conference.

Do you need a laptop using that controller? I am after a box that has its own router and can sync using an iPad/phone

You do need a laptop. It's a midi controller, that's all!
So you need laptop with a DMX program, USB-DMX, Numark Orbit with a wireless dongle.

Because of that it requires each button to be mapped manually which has meant this little project has taken hours!
Currently I've got page 1 with a selection of 13 static colours (just for par cans) slow strobe, fast strobe & blackout. The great thing is I can program the buttons to be the colour the lights will be so I don't need to remember what each button does (well except the 2 strobe buttons)
Page 2 is 16 toggle buttons for scenes I've made in freestyler, I've colour co-ordinated them based on what each scene controls so that column 1 is for par can chases, fades, patterns. Column 2 is a mixture of all effects. Column 3 is moving head scenes and column 4 is the mini dekker scenes. Row 1 = Slow, Row 2&3 = Steady beat, Row 4 = Fast.

I'm yet to work on what page 3 & 4 with do or what the control wheel in the middle will control. I doubt I'll use the accelerometer as I just don't know what to do with it (I thought moving head controller but that'd be far too tricky to make slight movements!)

Join the club with regard to lagging behind on dmx. I tried a few things but went for ADJ NE1 as the probably the most simple thing i could get used to (not the cheapest).

I don't have mydmx but there support is normally pretty good based in my experience with adj, if you haven't already explored that route!

I will look into a cuety type iPad thing with a 2.5gh box then.
The one ADJ looks very impressive, got to have a play with one yesterday. :)

I don't have mydmx but there support is normally pretty good based in my experience with adj, if you haven't already explored that route!

... apart from their flat refusal to offer on the fly program speed selection. Pfft! If ye cannae change the speed of programs without editing the program itself that makes MyDMX 2.0 very lame indeed.

Anyway, nice use of a controller there Mr ukpartydj. Something I need to do is break up some of my LED programming a bit - I don't have any chases yet as such - just all the lights all the same colour in a colour changing sequence. I think I could also do with making some more programs which alternate sequences of lighting.
