MyEntertainer - Anybody use them?

I keep getting emails from "My Entertainer" asking me to sign up to their platform at £25 a year.
Sounds perfectly reasonable to me and for £25 it's not a huge gamble but as there are no details of who is registered not enough public feedback available and no statistics on visitor counts etc.

If I were them I'd be running a 1 month free trial until they've got their feet on the ground but as they do not - anybody signed up? Thoughts?

Unless they are regularly featured in searches for your particular product and area seems like a waste of money.

Then how far down the list are you--lost in a mass of other providers?

Of all the free entries I signed up for many years ago I dont think I ever got a single booking--or any enquiries although under Barn Dance its not mainstream of course.

Some of the Wedding sites promise a lot--whether they deliver no idea.

I did actually have some luck with Hitched years ago, but it didnt last so dropped it.:rolleyes:

So that costs £5 plus vat to send someone a quote if you fancy the gig?

Could be an expensive game to play unless you have a lot of specific information giving you a clue as to whether you might get a sale.

Mind you i guess you can waste loads of money getting clicked on ad words as well:daft:.

All advertising has wastage.

At least Bark puts you in contact with a warm lead.

I foolishly joined MyEntertainer last year....won't bother renewing....not a single lead (and they still keep inviting me to join as well).

Bark....I'd be interested to see what the real outcome of that one is. I've got a listing and they've sent me no more than a dozen leads but at a fiver a pop.....hmmm (seeing my current performance and lack of wins on Mr Vectis' website I'm not really up for a race to the bottom where you have to pay to be turned down for quoting a realistic price).

I'll be honest though, at the moment ANY lead's a good lead for me. This year's been tough so far and I'm not the only person in my area that's saying it at the moment. I don't do my first wedding until 10pm tonight (I'm there more as the after party from 10pm to 1am rather than the main evening entertainment....hey ho!). I'm sure it'll pick up once the local Sids can't fit anything else into their diaries at £100 for an all day wedding during July...until then it's a case of sit tight and carry on with the kids parties and school discos.

I think personally the majority of my marketing budget this year is going into my own SEO and website stuff....the lead generation sites all seem to be attracting the "we want it for nothing" brigade at the moment

I know some of the advertising sites do provide the odd punter not looking for the cheapest but in the brave new world of online---and the brave old world of Yellow Pages things often seem very cost driven.

Thanks, that's what I expected. I'm going to be branching out to wedding fayres this year... Got 3 booked in. Doing loads more advertising this year, I don't like the idea of bark personally as potentially they could make up their own leads just to make money.

I must admit that I didn't even read the email I received and it is still sat there in my deleted folder.

With reference to Bark..... well, I have actually had 2 confirmed bookings via them now. I have had probably 30+ (example: "Sarah is looking for a DJ in Wokingham" or "Jack is looking for a Photo Booth in Basingstoke") type emails and then a couple of days later more emails telling me those people are / were STILL looking.

The bookings I have had confirmed are both decent paid ones (I know the subject of low paid jobs appeared in the last thread on Bark) but they are a bit different.
One is for a 40th Birthday 80's themed party on a Saturday afternoon (1.00pm - 5.00pm) and the other is for an 80's themed party but on August bank holiday Monday.

Oh, sorry....should have said.
It was 2 (1 each). Both bookings are in Basingstoke and I replied to them both as soon as I saw the emails. Strange though as 1 of them was £5.00 but I am sure the other was £6.00?

I've never heard of this entertainer one but I still don't like the concept of Bark. I still think it's too easy for them to introduce bogus enquiries to boost their income. And no-one will ever know!! :eek:
